The university art gallery is unique among universities' art galleries in the world both in artwork and activity. It is not only the epicenter of artistic events at the university, but also an integral part of the educational process, as well as aesthetic and spiritual guide for technical youth.
Igor Sikorsky KPI hosted the charity “Artistic Spring”—an evening that brought together students, faculty, staff, and guests of KPI around creativity and a good cause. On the stage of the Center for Culture and Arts, creative groups from the Center performed: contemporary dance numbers, folk motifs in original interpretations, and vocal performances by the best artists of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
More than 30 years ago, the Hryhorii Synytsia Art Gallery was opened at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Today, his paintings adorn the foyer of the university’s Centre for Culture and Arts. In reality, however, they do far more than decorate the space. They speak, ask questions, and address us with the voices of our ancestors as we hurry past in the bustle of everyday life. Their creator—monumental artist, Boychukist, member of the Sixtiers generation, mentor, and teacher of a distinguished cohort of Ukrainian artists, Hryhorii Ivanovych Synytsia—through his talent and his entire life, embodied a profound love for and devotion to Ukraine’s national identity, its people, and its cultural heritage.
“Promin” is the name of an exhibition by artist Natalia Hmyria, which opened on October 16 at the Art Gallery of the Igor Sikorsky KPI Center for Culture and Arts. The name is deeply symbolic, as rays of hope for peace and the revival of a full and happy life in Ukraine seem to permeate all the works presented there. Almost everyone who came to the opening to see the works and congratulate their author spoke about this.
