Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute systematically holds career guidance events within the framework of the Future KPI project.
On November 29 last year, the next KPIabitTalks started, organized by the Career Guidance Department - the Career Development Center of the DNVR.
So now, until May, every Wednesday from 19:00 on Instagram, schoolchildren who want to enter Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the faculties and educational and research institutes of the university. And so on according to the schedule, until all the departments are introduced. As always, during the broadcast, everyone interested can ask questions to the speakers. In addition to the host, representatives of the faculties/institutes will participate in these programs.
It should be recalled that the organizers started holding KPIabitTalks online because of COVID-19 and the full-scale war with Russia. But now the live broadcasts will be held on Instagram, not Telegram, as before. The organizers explain this by saying that most schoolchildren use this network and it will be easier for them to join the live broadcasts.
Nataliia Pozharska, Head of the Vocational Guidance Department - Career Development Center of the State Research and Development Institute, tells about the extent to which young people are actively involved in the broadcasts: "Regarding live broadcasts, the largest number of views was recorded during the story about ISZI- more than 150. Although I should note that the statistics of live broadcasts is not constant, because it is possible to view these programs later in the record on the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute applicant page, so the number of views may vary. Also, during the broadcast, listeners are quite active in asking questions - on average, up to 10 questions, but in case of special interest (for example, it was when representatives of the ISZZI spoke), there are more of them."
Another recent career guidance event was the KPISchool Engineering Week.
The project has been implemented for several years in a row. Initially, its events were held in a face-to-face mode, when schoolchildren came to KPI to attend classes on various topics and directions. Later, for obvious reasons, the time came for the online format. This time, the organizers decided to hold the engineering schools in a mixed format and during the school winter break. We hoped that during the holidays, students who were free from classes would be able to come to Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and take part in classes directly at the university. Therefore, engineering schools were held every day during the holidays at different faculties. For example, on December 26, 2023, a lesson entitled "Design and Development of UAVs" was held at the Institute of IAT, and on December 27 and 29, the baton was picked up by the IHF, the HTF and the Institute of MMI. On January 4, 2024, the PBF held a class on "Object Recognition Using Neural Network Technologies". No less fascinating and popular was the meeting from the FL on the topic "Python basics for computational linguistics".
"At these classes, the faculties/institutes tried to interest schoolchildren in the opportunity to get the latest knowledge in the specialty they have chosen for admission at our university," Nataliia Pozharska comments, "The feedback we received from the students about the classes was all positive. We observe that today's schoolchildren show an increased interest in the topics of engineering that are relevant today, in various innovations. This time, more than 200 students registered for the classes, including 11 teachers and more than 15 students from lyceums and colleges. This is more than during the fall school vacation."
