The staff and the trade union organization of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" are deeply saddened to announce that on December 31, at the age of 87, the heart of Professor, Honored Worker of Public Education of Ukraine, excellent student, Honored Worker of Trade Unions of Ukraine, Candidate of Technical Sciences Leonid Sachkov stopped beating.
After graduating from KPI in 1965, he was left to work at his native Faculty of Mining Electromechanics and Automation (now the Institute of Electrical Engineering). Subsequently, he went through all the stages of his professional scientific and pedagogical career from assistant to professor, and prepared more than 70 scientific papers, articles, monographs, textbooks, reference books and manuals. From 1974 to 1986, Leonid Sachkov also headed the KPI Local Committee, and then, from 1986 to 2010, he was the chairman of the Trade Union of Education and Science of Ukraine and the honorary chairman of the Trade Union of Educators.
