December 25, 2006 was a 100’s anniversary since a tragic death of the former director of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (1902 - 1904) and the first dean and organizer of the Department (Faculty) Chemistry, a prominent scientist and chemist Michael Ivanovich Konovalov.
Zworykin Konstantin (1861-1928) - Professor, Dean of Mechanical Faculty (1898-1904), Rector of the Polytechnic Institute (1904-1905), Head of the research department of mechanical technology (1922-1927). In 1884 he graduated from the St. Petersburg Institute of Technology.
Sergiy Feofanovich Veselovsky (1878 - date of death unknown) - professor, engineer-economist, rector of the KPI from 1920 to 1921, social and political activist.
Since the post-war years, the life and work of academician Vitaly Nykyforovych Grydnev, an outstanding scientist and educator, a talented organizer of science and higher education, has been closely connected with KPI.
V.L. Kyrpychov was born in 1845 in St. Petersburg in the family of the mathematician in the military school. He graduated from Polotsk Cadet Corps, then Mikhailovsky Artillery School, served two years in the fortress of Kronstadt artillery.
