Ceremonial opening of modern telecom laboratory lifecell, created with the support of "Ericsson Ukraine" took place in the Institute of Telecommunication Systems NTUU "KPI" on April 15. The leaders of operator of mobile communication lifecell - CEO Burak Ersoy, director of mobile network Mahmut Sheriff, head of Public Relations Oksana Rudiuk and others took part in opening ceremony of laboratory. Ericsson was represented by the CEO of this company in Ukraine Wojciech Bayda and Communication Manager Irina Shadeyko. NTUU "KPI" - vice-rector of scientific work academician of Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Mykhailo Ilchenko, assistant professor of telecommunication department of ITS Dmytro Minochkin, deputy director of the Research Institute of Telecommunications Research Sergiy Kravchuk, deputy director of ITS Valeriy Pravylo, head of department of information and communication networks ITS Larysa Globa.
When opening the laboratory, Mykhailo Ilchenko said: " It is impossible to imagine any modern production, no effective management or competitive business without modern communications, advanced telecommunications and information technology. Professionals who can create and exploit modern information and communication systems and networks, conduct research of new technologies are highly popular in our country. Meanwhile, the training of highly qualified personnel is impossible without modern educational and material base. So I thank mobile operator lifecell represented by CEO Burak Ersoy and Ericsson in Ukraine represented by General Director Wojciech Biden for facilitating the creation of a unique modern educational laboratory. The result of the joint efforts of lifecell and Ericsson will be the movement to a new, modern level of students studying in the direction of "telecommunications". When demonstrating laboratory Dmytro Minochkin said: "The laboratory is a two interrelated audience. The first (classroom №514) is a unique data center which contains a modern telecommunication and IT equipment of industrial level. Before this time only mobile operators had such equipment.
In the equipment base a working model of the network of mobile operator that will allow students to learn various practical aspects of its operation, management and maintenance will be create. Teachers of ITC has initiated the establishment of lecture and practical block of subjects associated with the study of the principles of network mobile communications, technical support, management of its elements and the creation and management of data centers and the provision of services. IT equipment is already integrated in the educational and scientific process of ITS, it is used to perform research works of Research Institute of Telecommunications, diploma projects of bachelors and masters.
The second (classroom №512) will be used as a modern educational audience for students' access to all variety of equipment in the data center of ITC, as well as for practical lessons and seminars on relevant subjects.
Therefore a modern training base for preparing of good professionals was created in NTUU "KPI" with the help of lifecell and Ericsson. For their part, Sheriff Mahmut and Wojciech Biden expressed hope for further cooperation with the university, including active researchers’ and students’ work in the field of modern communication technology.
