February the 1st Arkadіy Dem'yanovich Petukhov celebrated his 80 years anniversary. He is known specialist in the processing of polymeric materials, Doctor of Science, senior researcher, professor, honored inventor of Ukrainian SSR, professor of the department of chemical technology of composite materials HTF.
A. D. Petukhov was born in 1936 in the Belarusian village Dalenschyna in Mogilev region. In 1953 he graduated from secondary school №22 railway station Kricev 1of the South Western Railway. A year later he became a student of Chemical Engineering Faculty of the Moscow Technological Institute of Light Industry, which graduated from with honors in 1959 with the qualification of engineer. Since then, the whole future employment of A. D. Petukhov is inextricably linked to the production and processing of polymers and materials with their use.
In 1959 a seven-year development plan for the national economy was approved. It was supposed to enter into force six powerful factories of chemical engineering. One of these companies is Kyiv plant "Bolshevik", which later became the leader of domestic polymer and chemical engineering. That same year, the factory "Bolshevik" was organized by the Special Design Bureau on designing machines for the production of artificial leather, where were distributed the young specialist A. D. Petukhov.
Soon referred SKB was reorganized into the Ukrainian Research Institute on the development of machinery and equipment for processing of plastics, rubber and synthetic leather – UkrNDIplastmash, where A.D.Petukhov worked for nearly half a century (since 1959 to 2004), holding the positions from the design engineer to the deputy director of research. His creative hard work was awarded with the honorary title "Honored inventor of Ukraine" in 1985, and five years later he was appointed as a chief designer of the USSR Ministry of Heavy Engineering extrusion equipment.
Hard work at the position of designer and researcher Arkadіy Dem’yanovich mixed with scientific activities. In 1964 he became a graduate student of machinery and apparatus for chemical production in “KPI”. The result of his studying was the training of defense in 1969 Ph.D. thesis, and in 1990 a huge scientific and practical experience of Arkadіy Dem’yanovich formed the basis for his doctoral dissertation "Intensification extrusion processes and modification of polymer products." In 2004 A.D.Petukhov started to teach in “KPI”, that has always been his second home after UkrNDIplastmash. In 2007 he was awarded with the academic title of professor of chemical engineering of composite materials. Now he continues to work in this department, passing on to the younger generation his vast experience of scientist, inventor, engineer, designer and producer
. All scientific and engineering activities of Arkadіy Dem’yanovich are related to the production and processing of polymers. Under his leadership and with his direct participation were made dozens of scientific researches, which resulted in the creation of over a hundred samples of new technologies, many of which are now successfully operating in many countries. A significant part of research and development was done together with representatives of the world-known scientific school of the “KPI” professor Yu.Yu.Lukach. The creative works of hero of the day have almost three hundred scientific publications, including monographs and more than one hundred patents and utility models, a significant proportion of which are put into production.
Professor A.D.Petukhov is a member of two academic councils, deputy chairman of the editorial board of "Utilities polymer materials," active member of editorial boards and author of professional publications "Packaging" and "Herald of “KPI”. Series: chemical engineering, ecology, and resource." He also was awarded with the Order of Red Banner of Labor, the medal "For development of virgin lands", Soviet medals, diplomas of Ministry of Industrial Policy and the Ministry of Education of Ukraine. But the main reward for Arkadіy Dem’yanovich is the gratitude of his many colleagues and students. He gave the "start in life" to many scientists, teachers and organizers of production.
