On November, 29 students and post-graduates of NTUU "KPI" had the meeting with the Minister of Justice of Ukraine Olena Lukash. The meeting was dedicated to the issues concerning preparation for the signing of
Association Agreement with the European Union. As one of the contributor of the document text detailing Minister in detail explained the participants issues concerning the period for which it should be accepted, its main provisions, characteristics and explained the audience some details embedded in it law.
The agreement with Ukraine, noted Olena Lukash, as opposed to documents of the EU signed with other Eastern European countries is the provision of basic economic rather than political integration . Especially since it does not contain provisions on the full political integration of Ukraine into the European Union . Hence Association defines strategic path which will lead to solving the existing tactical issues. There are no obstacles to the implementation of the action plan of the European integration. This should be brought to life daily, no matter if the Association is signed in Vilnius or not. After all, in order to work in this direction signing of additional documents is not required.
"Of course, both for the EU and for Ukraine this agreement is specifically symbolic," - reported the Minister of Justice of Ukraine in her speech. However, there exist certain hidden risks in it, since signing brings significant threat to our economy. Olena Lukash paid special attention to this question. These risks include the problem with employment of citizens and freedom of their movement. As the pressure of our eastern neighbor, experienced by the number of domestic fields of industry, has significantly increased recently. So, agreeing on this issue is quite necessary. The subjects of the negotiations should not be represented by two parties only, but by three parties - EU, Ukraine and Russian Federation. This was the initiative of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, and this kind of actions would lead to the desired result.
"At the government session I voted for suspension of the process in order to conduct negotiations in the form of three, for the settlement of economic issues , which signing may cause , - noted Olena Lucas, answering one of the questions from the audience. – Perhaps, there is no member in the Ukrainian government , except maybe the Minister of Foreign Affairs, who gave as much efforts for signing of this agreement, as I did, who spent as much time in Strasbourg, Brussels and Luxembourg negotiating. But I am also aware of its disadvantages, I realize all the consequences. So I want it to be not just dreams, but dreams and actions".
At the end of the meeting there were lots of questions. The questions were concerning not only the Association Agreement itself, but the reaction of the authorities to Euromaidan in general; the violation of students rights to participate in the protests. Unlike the authorities of NTUU "KPI", the authorities of some other Kiev universities implied measures against students; even the biography of the Minister, secrets of her success in life and some issues of being the head of the Ministry, including circumstances of the suspension of some State Registers at the beginning of October this year and more.
