The Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry (KZNH) is one of the oldest departments of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Ihor Sikorskyi Kyiv Polytechnic Institute", which was created together with the foundation of the university in 1898. During the existence of the department, such outstanding scientists as L.V. Pisarzhevskyi, V.O. Plotnikov, V.O. Izbekov, V.V. Udovenko, O.M. Stepanenko.

KZNH provides training for students in the disciplines "Chemistry", "General Chemistry", "General and Inorganic Chemistry", "Chemistry and Electro-Radio Materials", "Properties of Chemical Elements and Their Compounds" at the vast majority of faculties of KPI named after Igor Sikorsky. The educational process is carried out by 1 professor, 7 associate professors, 4 senior teachers and 2 assistants.

The scientific interests of the department lie in the field of theoretical and applied research of complex compounds of d-elements, synthesis and study of the properties of nanostructured materials, development of materials for improving energy storage systems (Li-ion batteries), etc.
