Meeting with the Head of the State Space Agency of Ukraine

On November, 10, the KPI was visited by the Head of the State Space Agency of Ukraine Pavlo Degtyarenko and his adviser Eduard Kuznetsov.

Participation in the meeting with the head of the space industry of Ukraine was undertaken by the rector of the KPI, the academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Mchael Zgurovskyi, the vice-rector of the university for scientific work, the academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Myhailo Ilchenko, the dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Physics, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Petro Loboda, director of the Mechanical Engineering, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Mykola Bobyr, Chief Designer of the “Storm” Sergiy Pukh, a member of the group of developers of the KPI nanosatellites Yevgeny Kovalenko etc.

The opening speech of Michael Zgurovsky was dedicated to the conceptual issues of the development of university space research in the general context of the development of the space industry, the complexity of their financing (he emphasized that the implementation of the space projects of the KPI is currently being carried out exclusively at the expense of the university and investors) and the use of the results of such research. So the story of Myhailo Ilchenko about the space program of the Kiev Polytechnic has become a clear demonstration of how exactly and for what purposes the space projects in the university are implemented, and its future prospects. He in particular informed the guests about two nanosatellites of the Polytechnic “PolyITAN-1” and “PolyITAN-2-SAU” that are already in the near-Earth orbit and about the work on the following apparatuses in this series, as well as the development of a micro-satellite for remote sensing of the Earth . Information about some of the design features of the new nanosatellites was complemented by the story of Eugene Kovalenko. Sergyi Pukh said more about the tasks to be solved by the micro-satellite, which the university specialists are working on, and about the know-how, and Peter Loboda spoke about the creation and introduction of new reinforced composite materials for the aerospace industry that they are working on. IFF researchers, and showed some of their samples. Mykola Bobyr informed about the cooperation with SE “Pivdenne” and the projects implemented by the employees of the MMI.

In turn, Pavlo Degtyarenko told the participants about the activity and prospective plans of the State Tax Administration. Among other things, he informed about the development of a draft concept of the state policy development of the domestic space industry, cooperation with foreign partners, the need for a clear definition of priorities in the activities of scientific organizations and industry enterprises, etc. Regarding the cooperation with the Igor Sikorski KPI, he not only offered to discuss the specific directions during the next meetings, but immediately identified one of them, expressing the idea of including spacecraft developed at the university in the programs of carrier launches, in which State enterprises and institutions included in the system of the State Tax Administration will participate.
