On April 16, 2016, died Pavel Bondar, Ph.D., assistant professor of the Department of Instruments and Systems of Orientation and Navigation of FIE.

P. Bondar graduated from KPI in 1965. The same year he began his career in KPI, first as an assistant, from 1970 - a graduate student, in 1973 – 1974 - a senior engineer, from 1977 - Associate Professor. In 2003 – 2006 - Acting Head of the Department of Instruments and Systems of Orientation and Navigation (ISON), from 2006 he worked as a professor, from 2008 - as assistant professor. In 1978 - 1996 P. Bondar had duties of deputy and executive secretary of the selection committee of NTUU "KPI", in 1989 – 1991 – a representative of a basic institution in the branches of the university.

Pavlo combined teaching with research work, was known in Ukraine as a scientist in the field of orientation and navigation. He owned researches related to the development of the guide determining azimuth directions and integrated systems of special determination of the destination. He was a supervisor and executor of the most important researches on the development of these systems. Scientific advances are in solving complex scientific and practical problems of the theory of orientation, based on the wave and oscillatory gyroscope. Pavlo was the author of over 90 scientific and teaching materials, teaching aids and textbooks.

During his career, with great efficiency and experience in research and teaching work, he made a significant contribution to the development of the department and faculty. For conscientious work P. Bondar if awarded the medal "For Labour Merit" signed by USSR Ministry, "For great success in work", Diploma of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine, insignia of ENEA USSR, prize of NTUU "KPI" for the textbook "Fundamentals of the theory of sensitive elements orientation ". In 2003 he was awarded the title "Honored Teacher of NTUU "KPI".

He read lectures in subjects: "Measuring transducers, devices and systems," "Guidance and stabilization systems", "Design of devices and systems", "Theory of gyros," directed course and diploma projects, research work of aspirants. For each he found the right words and explained complex physical phenomena, his lectures were very scientific and methodological, with the ability to focus on key provisions. When communicating, he demonstrated a great sense of humor, with which he overcame life and professional difficulties.

P.M.Bondar was a professional in engineering education, demanding of himself, ready to help colleagues and students. Almost all current teachers of the Department of Instruments and Systems of Orientation and Navigation were his students. His contribution to the establishment and development of the department can’t be overestimated.

We all - department staff and students - mourn this great loss, to express condolences to the relatives of Pavlo, all who knew this extraordinary man. The memory of our colleague and teacher will remain in our hearts.
