Ivan Diomydovych Zhukov (1860 -?) - Professor, chemical-reaction engineer. Rector of the KPI - 1911-1917.

After graduation from physics and mathematics faculty of Kharkiv University, worked in the laboratory of Professor Frezenius in Visbaden. In 1885 he was destined a laboratory assistant at the laboratory of technical chemistry in Kharkiv University and in the same year he moved to a laboratory in the Kharkiv Institute of Technology, where he headed the laboratory of quantitative analysis. In 1895 he was sent abroad to study the laboratories' organization which engaged in pure culture yeast preparation and uses of pure culture yeast in different industries based on fermentation. For this purpose, he worked in laboratories in Copenhagen, Berlin, Heyzenheyme, Munich and San Michel and visited many factories.

 After returning in 1896 taught a course of “fermentation micro organisms and their application in engineering” and headed technical Laboratory Institute. In 1899 he was sent abroad as a Minister of Finance, where he worked in a sugar laboratory in Berlin and sugar factory in Dormagen. After returning in 1901 defended awarded associate degree in Kiev Polytechnic Institute and was appointed extraordinary professor there in the department of technology, and in 1903 the ordinary. From 1911 to 1917 was the rector of KPI.
