Serhiy lived in Kyiv in recent years. He worked at the GlobalLogic company and at the same time studied at the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Engineering of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
During the Revolution of Dignity, he was not immune, but was always in the center of actions, defending the European future of Ukraine.
He died from four bullet wounds on February 18, 2014. It happened during the first attack at the House of Trade Unions. Serhiy buried in the cemetery of the village of Chabany, Kyiv-Sviatoshyn raion, Kyiv oblast.
Serhiy Bondarev was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the Golden Star posthumously on November 21, 2014.
