Igor Mykolayovych taught at the department of tactical and special training of the Military Institute of Telecommunications and Informatization of NTUU " Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" from 2001. He became the head of the department in 2008.
In 2015, Igor Pavlov was appointed the first deputy commander of the Anti-Terrorist Operation in Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts.
Igor Mykolayovych got killed on February 9, 2015. Doing the march from Artemivsk to Debaltseve, the column came under fire near the village of Lohvynove, in the upper part of the Debaltseve salient.
Colonel Igor Pavlov was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III degree posthumously.
On January 20, 2016, he was permanently included in the lists of the Faculty of Information Protection of the Military Institute of Telecommunications and Informatization by order of the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
