May 15 NTU "KPI" was visited by a prominent businessman and business coach John Von Achen.
John Von Achen is one of the world's most renowned experts in the field of strategic management, marketing, human resources and sales. As a business coach he conducted seminars in 40 countries. Over 120 thousand people took part in them. His books and audio course enjoy the same popularity among beginners and those seeking personal growth. More than 15 years of experience in Central and Eastern Europe and in the former Soviet Union has allowed him to develop approaches and effective conduct of business in the markets of these regions.
This is not the first visit of John Von Achen to KPI. A few days ago he had visited the university, made a tour of it, took a look at the Stars Alley of the Kyiv Polytechnics before visiting the main historic building of the University as well as the exhibition of the State Polytechnic Museum at NTU "KPI" and its department of aviation and astronautics. The guest has paid particular attention to the Science Park “Kyiv Polytechnics” and the project of creation of the innovative center Polyteco Science City. After he was introduced to them, John Von Achen discussed possible cooperation in the framework of this project with NTUU “KPI” Rector, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Mykhailo Zgurovsky, University Administration representatives and Science Park managers.
His second visit was devoted to the preparation of a large-scale seminar, scheduled to take place in the Center of Culture and Arts of NTUU "KPI" in June, 2 this year. The event was organized by the OLEROM Consulting company (which organized Business Forum “One Ukraine Forum”, by the way that was successfully held in Kyiv, April 30), KPI and Scientific Park "Kyiv Polytechnics". Thus, John Von Achen met with the Sikorsky Challenge start-up school students, Management and Marketing Faculty students and the media at the Science Park exhibition hall on May, 15 to talk about preparations to the seminar, issues to be raised there and also about himself. And to answer the questions, of course.
"During his meeting with the organizers of the Sikorsky Challenge and communication with them I learned about things that occur only here and nowhere else in the world. Very often at such meetings I am finally asked, "Well, John, and how much money can you bring in?". But this meeting was different. I was told "We want to have more startups in our country. It will be great if our project will become international, but it isn’t our main goal. We want to raise funds from those people who want to do business and work here, locally. " It's wonderful and of a very large scale! "- shared his impressions of acquaintance with the KPI and its Science Park projects John Von Achen.
He then spoke about the seminar to be held on June 2, and stressed that it will be very specific, because he will be speaking about not only how to succeed, but also what not to do in business; about social media and their role; about how you can get into trouble and lose your money; how to keep on after failure and a lot of things that.
Finally, John Von Achen answered the questions. Students were interested not only in his business projects, but also in biography, attitude to faith in God, views on life and more. Conversation was very relaxed and interesting. A meeting ended after the already traditional photo of all the participants and its guest was taken near the Igor Sikorsky monument.
