Recently NTUU "KPI" was hosting the regular annual General Meeting of Members of the Association of Ukrainian Research and Academic Network "uranium", which summed up its activities over the past year and outlined plans for the coming years.

Today, membership in the Association has contributed 81 scientific, educational and cultural institutions from all regions of Ukraine. Although uranium was re-registered association (a non-profit entity) in 2006, actually network "uranium" in the year counting down 16-year anniversary of its existence. The network was established in 1997 by a joint decree of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Ministry of Education of Ukraine. In recent years, it is actively being developed with funding from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, SASII, Department of Scientific and NATO on their own members.

Today, the high-speed fiber optic infrastructure connected about half of all Ukrainian universities, which has about two-thirds (over one million) of all students of the country, and supercomputer centers NTU "KPI" and KNU. Shevchenko associated data channel 10 Gbit/s among otherselves and a number of supercomputers, NAS of Ukraine into a single system of grid clusters. Taking into account that the network "uranium" is a national network - the representative of Ukraine in the project GEANT, it gives the technical ability of scientists from Ukraine to participate in joint projects with the European Union with high demands for bandwidth.

In 2012, the Association of uranium introduced a new service - information system Journals.URAN. This system allows publishers with minimal financial cost to deploy a fully functional coffee server that serves the full "life cycle" of scientific journals, authors of manuscripts from submission to obtain statistical information on Scientometrics and published articles. The functionality of the system can simultaneously manage a large number of titles of publications issued by various agencies.

In 2013 the Association of uranium registration service deploys digital IDs DOI, provided scientific publications and used in particular in the information system CrossRef, which includes a database that describes and identifies the original publication and contains the address of the location of online publishing. DOI enables automatic tracking of CrossRef links between publications, including those quoted, and those who cite.

As part of this project is expected to create a single point of access to scientific periodicals of Ukraine, registers authors and academic institutions where they work, statistical databases, bibliometric data and Scientometrics, "one-stop scholar" (interfaces to represent the authors of articles for publication in scientific publication and further participation in the process of reviewing and preparing articles before their publication, scientists obtain performance and readability citation own articles in journals etc.). The deployment of a full-scale national system scientometric monitoring on the basis of universal, sectoral and regional data bases scientometric facilitate the integration of scientific periodicals in Ukraine in the prestigious global database and systems.
