Temporary regulations on the organization of the educational process in the NTUU "KPI": 3. Forms of educations

Training of students at the University is carried out the following forms:

  • full-time (day-time);
  • part-time (distance);

      Forms of training may be combined.

      Full-time form of studying is the main form of obtaining a certain degree of higher education with off-job training;

      Educational process on full-time of studying involves personal contact with teaching stuff and student, providing deep domain system of knowledge, stable skills. Full-time students are required to attend all classes according to the schedule and to make training tasks in a working (individual) curriculum plan and work programs of credit modules* in time. According to the law full-time students have rights for: providing scholarships, travel privilege in urban transport, accommodation in a dormitory, determent of military service, etc.

      Part-time (distance) form of studying – the kind of studying that combines the features of full-time study and self-study work. Characterized by phasing. The first phase is to obtain the knowledge base and methodology for independent assimilation of educational information and skills formation (constituent session). The second phase of part-time student is self-studying work and making scheduled individual tasks. And the third – is verification of studying outcomes (checking individual tasks, presentation of course projects/works, passing exams and credits, final certification, etc.). However, these phases are distant from each other, according to the curriculum plan of this form of studying.

   Part-rime studying is a form of obtaining a certain degree of higher education for individuals, who working or studying simultaneously at another specialty. The citizens of Ukraine regardless of the type and nature of their occupation and age have the rights to obtain an education by part-time studying. Part-time students have some benefits guaranteed by the state (additional paid leave, social tax benefits).

      Distance studying – is embodiment of part-time studying, which is based on the use of all modern technology together to ensure the delivery of information through the use of information and communication technologies. The main principles of distance studying are interactive communication in studying process, providing students the possibility of self-studying work, as well as review classes in the educational activity. This technology allows to studying at a distance.

      Part-time studying in a particular specialty can be opened if:

  •  educational program accredited by the relevant specialty and the degree of higher education;
  •  a full-time form of education in this specialty exist;
  •  is necessary teaching, information, and logistical provision of the form of studying.

Opening of part-time(distance) form of studying with a particular specialty is carried out by the decision of the Academic Council on the recommendation of Methodical Council of the University.

External – is a special kind if studying individuals (externs) to obtain a certain degree of higher education through self-studying according a certain program and passing credits, exams and other forms of final control provided for individual curriculum at the University.

External form of studying organized at the University in order to:

  • obtain the first higher education;
  • obtain the second higher education, including simultaneous studying;
  • take the missing credits while transition to another specialty on own accord, transfer from one form of education to another or transferring from other universities;
  • take the missing credits in renewal of studying.

External specialty is opening with permission of the MES by the decision of the Academic Council of the University on the recommendation of the Methodical Council of the University in condition of the relevant information and methodological ware of studying. Proposals for the opening of external indicating specialties give their accreditation and the allowable number of external students served in MES by 1 February each year.

The number of external students in each specialty should not exceed five percent of the contingent of full-time students.

* Credit module (ECTS) – an educational discipline ( part of multi-semester discipline), which studied in a certain semester. Credit module has a certain amount of ECTS credits and level of assimilation must be defined in the assessment system of ECTS.
