Temporary regulations on the organization of educational process in NTUU "KPI": 4.3. Curricula



The curriculum is normative document of the institution which determines the content of teaching and regulating the organization of educational process on the specialist (profession). The curricula made out for each level of higher education (LHE) and for each form of education (including training with short or long compared to typical, period of training) based on appropriate OSH and educational process schedule. The curriculum determines the enumeration and extent of academic disciplines, the sequence of their study, and distribution of training hours by type of classes per semester, type of semester control and final attestation. Curricula are adopted academic councils of relevant institutions/departments and confirmed by the rector. Rector’s subscription sealed of the university signet. Examination of curricula and its renovation carried out at least once in 4 years.

  1. Training disciplines in the curriculum are divided into:
  2. Normative part of the curriculum;
  3. Optional part of the curriculum.

According to Article 62 of the Law of Ukraine "About Higher Education" amount of optional subjects should not be less than 25% of total training program. To the optional part of the curriculum involved general subjects (invariant to the professions) training, taking part in the formation of public (social and personal) competencies, training courses on mastering foreign languages (the choice of language), and subjects majors. The normative part of the curriculum must be at least 40% of the total training program. Number of subjects that offered to students to choose must ensure real and free choice of subjects. Students, who study at a particular speciality and LHE, training courses for the next academic year is held in the second semester of the previous academic year for the majority principle using electronic university campus. Deans and relevant issue departments organized the choice procedure of the subjects by students. The condition is to ensure the formation of normative number of groups and academic groups. The results of students selection specified in the relevant curricula on next academic year.

In the curricula of full-time study from academic discipline on lecture classes is allocated, usually from 1/3 to 2/3 of the total training time.

In order to improve training content, specificity educational process planning, timely amendments to execution of orders and instructions of Ministry of Education, decisions of Universities’ Methodological and Academic Councils, consideration of regional requirements and requests customer experts, consideration of students' choice of subjects and the consolidation of disciplines for certain departments annually, by March 1 of this year, working curriculum (proofread) for the next academic year. Curricula makes out for each LHE and form of training, involving training with short or long term studies in comparison to typical.

In the curricula for full-time study form at the credit module of lecture classes for normative number of academic groups and groups allocated, usually from 1/3 to 2/3 of the total training time, if a smaller number of groups and groups in curricula the proportion of lecturer classes can be reduced.

Working curricula are decreed by Academic Council to appropriate institution / faculty and confirmed by the first pro-rector at least in four months before the beginning of the school year.

Elaboration of training and working curricula are one of the most responsible types of methodical work of teaching staff. Training and working curriculum are developed by working groups of graduating department with representatives providing departments. Personal structure of the working groups is determined by the institute director / dean of the faculty. The working groups work under the direct direction of heads of relevant graduating departments and coordinate their activities and executing the requirements of the curriculum by the Deputy Director of the institute / dean of educational work.

Training and working curriculum made out defined educational department of the University electronically. Requirements for the structure, content and execution of training and working curriculum published in the "Methodical recommendation for the execution of training and working curriculum."

Execution of electronic curricula is performed in subsystem "Dekan" information and production system "Osvita".

Individual curricula of Master degree (Annex B) - is a document by which individual students teaching for master's training program. It is developed by undergraduate student for each academic year with the participation of research advisor by masters.

Individual training curricula contains enumeration of optional subjects in accordance with the direction of researches and master thesis theme and subjects integrated programs "master" - "Doctor of Philosophy". Disciplines of personal choice are learned by undergraduates under the direction of researcher advisor.

All subjects included in the training curricula to individual student curricula are required for learning and semester control.

The individual curricula may involve undergraduate training and examinations of candidate.

Individual undergraduate curricula confirmed by the head of the department no later than 1 November at the first year and by 15 September in the second year of study. Individual undergraduate curricula made in 2 copies, the first preserved the graduating department, and the second - the student. Individual curricula posted on the websites of departments.

Individual student curricula that participates in programs of academic mobility - is a document adjusted the order of studying the credit modules and making out credit control  based on the results of study considering the special features of training student program at NTUU "KPI" and academic mobility programs.

Universal order processing of individual curricula is regulated by "Order processing of individual curriculum of students who participate in academic mobility programs."
