Meeting Veterans Day, I would like to emphasize the great significance work contribution of each KPI veterans to the establishment of the university. Without the dedication work of these people postwar reconstruction of KPI and further development would be impossible.
Revival of KPI (then it was called "The Kiev industrial institute") began at once after liberation of Kiev from enemy occupation - since November, 1943. About and a half months was formed by a small (a few dozen) collective of professors capable to give classes with first-year students, and in January, 1944 it is declared the recruitment of students. Occupations began on February 15, 1944. At the first year then no more than 60 students studied.
Couples were carried out only in the escaped audiences to the chemical case. The room of the left wing of this building were seriously damaged by direct hit from two high-explosive bombs, and the right wing quickly restored shops of the plant "Tochelektroprylad." In the main case was placed the hospital. The large physical audience completely burned out, and the left wing was absolutely unsuitable for occupations. The room weren't heated so for big frosts reduced duration of educational couple till 45 minutes.
In 1944-1945 remedial work at institute was performed only by student's crews. After the war, in the summer of 1945, the Soviet government decided to restore and develop KPI allocation of funds, labor resources and funds for materials and equipment. By the winter of 1945-1946 years was completely restored centralized heating two buildings of the institute.
In the autumn 1945 to the KPI began to return professors and students, which since the war had to leave the institute to with weapons in hand to defend the motherland and expel foreigners from seizures land. And from February 1949 collective professors of the institute began to receive replenishment of those participants in military operations, who started to study since February, 1944.
All former soldiers during the war years accustomed to act in any, often quite adverse conditions were vigorous, active and enterprising. This provided an opportunity to use their abilities to the most responsible positions.
In the summer of 1946 to the Institute of marketable court railway brought about hundreds the most various of electrical machines. Sender these machines was some unknown person named Rebrov. After a while became clear that this Rebrov - Major and served in Germany in the Soviet military administration in the unit that ships the Soviet industrial equipment removed from German companies in the account of reparations. With the consent of the administrative management of the two railway platforms electric machines sent to Kyiv Electrical Engineering Faculty KPI. These machines were equipped laboratory of electric drive, electric vehicles, power plants and certain. And more than a year in the institute S.O.Rebrov was a major that before the war he worked at the Department of Electric. During the war he was a company commander, and chief of staff battalion the engineering brigade of special purpose. His battalion set electrical barrier between Soviet and German positions. S.O.Rebrov retreated to the east Ukraine, fought at Stalingrad, passed to the west Ukraine, Poland, Germany, took Berlin.
S.O.Rebrova were included assistant of electric chair, and then - dissertation work the dean of Faculty of Electrical Engineering, scientific work on transport issues, providing the title of professor, the work scientific supervisor of problem laboratory electric linear motors. He received 10 certificates for inventions, 12 foreign patents, published his 8 books.
For years of work as the dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering held the first places in competition between faculties almost in all branches of the activity.
Not less selflessly also other veterans worked. With their participation activity of KPI collective considerably quickened. Progress of students increased, scientific work was sped up.
Many veterans became heads of KPI and its divisions.
Vice-Rector (formerly - Deputy Director) KPI at different times were veterans: A.H.Bondar, V.I.Hnatovskyy, V.V.Dovbyschenko, M.S.Ilchenko, M.L.Kalnibolotskyy, I.P.Moskalenko, O.O.Paschenko, I.H.Trush, and I. M.Chyzhenko.
Dean of the faculty were: Yu.O.Babenko, O.I.Butuzov, V.M.Vynoslavskyy, V.D.Zhohot, I.K.Kozynenko, L.H.Lubenets, M.S.Mozharovskyy, BF Natarov, S.O.Rebrov, O.D.Trubenok, A.F.Chyzhskyy and others.
Head of the department were: A.H.Bondar, O.V.Bilotskyy, V.M.Vynoslavskyy, D.Ya.Hluhov, O.F.Domrachev, M.S.Ilchenko, M.Yu.Iyerusalymov, ML Kalnibolotskyy, S.I.Kalenchuk, M.S.Korol, Y.M.Mohylnyy, M.S.Mozharovskyy, O.H.Nikolayev, A.P.Ornatskyy, P.P.Ornatskyy, M.P.Panchenko, L.O.Radchenko, S.V.Romanenko, KGSamofalov, Ya.K.Trohymenko, O.D.Trubenok, I.K.Fedchenko, L.Y.Chemerynskyy, V.Ya.Shlyuko and others.
For many years, veteran Lt. H.M.Ischenko was scientific secretary of the KPI. Scientific secretary of the KPI, then the head of research sector was M.S.Samotryasov.
Managers of educational units were: M.Yu.Iyerusalymov, V.Ya.Shlyuko, A.H.Bondar, B.I.Ruschuk.
Both Lenin Prize laureate (the most prestigious in the Soviet Union) from KPI - I.M.Chyzhenko and A.Sh.Nemyrovskyy were also veterans.
Today in our university has about 80 participants in military operations and more than 90 participants of the war. Of course, they are older persons, but nevertheless they give knowledge and experience to our students.
Unfortunately, time prevails. Most of the former veterans through their life is no longer working in responsible leadership positions. Many of them are already not present with us. But their contribution to post-war restoration and further development of KPI so significant and important that is worth it to be written down by gold letters in history of our university. But it isn't!
According to exposition of the museum KPI, the history of our university stopped somewhere between 1960 - 1970 years. It should be corrected, and at a transfer of the museum to the new premise to expand an exposition in time to the present. And in this expanded exposition adequately to note a contribution of all veterans-soldiers to development of KPI. The council of veterans appeals to all veterans to take part in updating of an exposition of history KPI.
The good example of such reconstruction we already have in our university. After all at the initiative of the rector and during the active work of the services responsible for reconstruction of KPI park, by means of Council of veterans were established at an entrance to park instead of an anonymous stele the real Memorial with surnames of those killed in the fighting students and employees of KPI.
The council of veterans of NTUU "KPI" in Day of the veteran wishes to all veterans of our university a good health, happiness, well-being to their families, long years of life and fruitful work in KPI!
