In January 2001, NTUU"KPI" at the Department of Biotechnology Department of General and Bioorganic Chemistry was established first in Ukraine Faculty of Biotechnology and Bioengineering, which led Shinkarenko LM Kyiv Polytechnic was the founder of a new direction not only training, but also a new look at modern realities.

To date, the Faculty of Biotechnology and Bioengineering, who in 2006 headed by Dean Sc.D., Professor Alex Dugan Martem'yanovych work 4 chairs - Industrial Biotechnology, biotechnology and engineering, ecobiotechnology and bioenergy, bioinformatics.

Biotechnology - the science of obtaining the necessary human and material products using living organisms and special equipment - Bioengineering:

Industrial biotechnology is developing and implementing a practice technology for biologically active substances, drugs, food additives, bacterial fertilizers, pesticides etc.

Biotechnika and Engineering is an important part of any industrial process of obtaining biotechnological and pharmaceutical products, as required designing modern equipment industry;

Ecobiotechnology and bioenergetics gives mankind ponovlyuvanni Energy - alcohols, hydrocarbons, hydrogen derived from technologies developed bioconversion of waste industrial and agricultural production;

Bioinformatics allows designing biotechnological processes during the development of industrial technology to analyze and predict the properties of new biological structures and molecules.
