Time passes by fast. Realities and priorities change. For example, metallurgy of the last century was associated with heavy and dangerous men's labor. Today scientists who explore and rimprove metallurgical technologies are often fragile girls and elegant women. This can be seen at the Department of Physical Chemistry of our university, where employees are not only charming, but also hard-working. The results of their scientific search are utilized practically and receive a well-deserved recognition.

Last year the senior lecturer Victoria Ivanovna Vorobyova won the University Contest "Young Teacher-Researcher", and was warmly congratulated by her colleagues and students. A young scientist came to Kyiv Polytechnic in 2011. She was proposed to enter the post-graduate course of the Igor Sikorsky Kyi Polytechnic Institute by the professor O.E. Chigirinets, professor of the Department of Physical Chemistry.

Prior to this, Victoria graduated with honors from the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine (Dnipro). By the way, the Kiev Polytechnic and Ekaterinoslav High School (from which Dniprovsky metallurgical institute began) are age-olds: one emerged for the needs of the industrialists, the second — for the miners, and got the recognition of specialists  and both are recognized in their spheres.

"I chose the specialty" Metallurgy ", but with specialization in the corrosion protection of metals, because this problem is relevant for Dnieper region — the region of metallurgy, - later told V.Vorobyova." The bright past of this industry supported enthusiasm and inspiration to study.  The interest to scientific work appeared in the third year, which subsequently reflected in the received scholarship of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation "Tomorrow UA", a diploma of the first degree for the entry into the all-Ukrainian contest of student scholarly works and the victory in the All-Ukrainian competition of final Master's thesis in "Metallurgy".

V.Vorobyova successfully graduated from postgraduate study of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Politechnic Institute in November 2014, and defended her Ph.D. thesis in the specialty "Chemical resistance of materials and corrosion protection" on the topic "Combined volatile inhibitors of atmospheric corrosion of vegetable raw materials based steel" in December 2014.

Since 2014, Victoria Ivanivna works at the Department of Physical Chemistry, initially as an assistant, and since 2017 — as a senior lecturer. General scientific interests: protection of metals from corrosion, physical and chemical aspects of the action of volatile inhibitors of atmospheric corrosion of ferrous and nonferrous metals. The main directions of scientific research: the development of volatile atmospheric corrosion inhibitors for temporary protection, the influence of the chemical structure of organic compounds on their inhibitory properties and the determination of the method of forecasting their reactivity on the basis of quantum-chemical calculations. Further scientific work of the young, but with years more and more experienced researcher brings its results.

In 2016, Viktoria Ivanovna became the winner of the Presidential Award for young scientists as a member of the scientific team with the work "New inhibitors to prevent corrosion". And in 2017 the scientific group, which included V.I. Vrobobiova, under the direction of Ph.D. T.S.Zhuk, associate professor of the Department of Organic Chemistry and Technology of Organic Compounds, and G.S.Vasilev, candidate of technical sciences, responsible executive of the project assistant of the Department of Electrochemical Plants Technology, gained the victory in the competition, conducted by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and state funding for the project "Highly effective modification of metal surface by environmentally safe compounds for the provision of new functional properties". In 2017, according to the results of the rating of the scientific and pedagogical staff of the University, V.I. Vorobyova was granted for high personal indicators in educational, methodological, scientific and innovative work.

Victoria Ivanovna finds time for work with both students and schoolchildren. For creative work with gifted student youth in 2015 she received a thanks from the Small Academy of Sciences. Always cheerful, friendly and competent, she enjoys a well-deserved authority and respect of colleagues and students. At the department she is told to always find a solution to the problem, because Victoria means "victory".

V.I. Vrobobiova chose the words of the reformist education John Dewey: "Every great advance in science has issued from a new audacity of imagination" as the motto of her work The researcher plans to continue to work on the scientific theme of "green" chemical technologies and to promote the development of the Chemical Technology Faculty and the university as a whole.
