Timofeev Vladimir Fedorovich (05 [17] /08/1858, Poltava - 12/14/1923) - Professor, Department of Physical Chemistry (1899-1908), director of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute (1906-1908). He was a trainee of N.N. Beketov. In 1881 he graduated from the Kharkov University, worked there as an assistant teacher and also lectured at the Kharkov Institute of Technology (until 1899). In 1889-1890 he improved his education in Germany. In 1899-1908 - Professor, Department of Physical Chemistry of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute. From 1908 to 1922 he was professor in the Department of Physical Chemistry at Kharkov University. V.F. Timofeev was the founder and first director (1922-1923) of the Ukrainian Institute of Applied Chemistry (Kharkiv).
In 1894, he defended his master's thesis, in 1906 - doctoral thesis. Professor - since 1894.

Scientific work were related to the study of the nature of anhydrous solutions. He investigated the solubility of organic and inorganic substances in anhydrous solutions at different temperatures. In 1904, Vladimir Fedorovich investigated the thermal effect of the formation of anhydrous solutions. His works have confirmed the chemical theory of solutions.

He authored many scientific papers and several books: "Lectures on physics-chemistry" (1908), "Short Course of Chemistry", "Physical Chemistry" (1923).
