Ostafyev Vladimir Alexandrovich (b. In 1934) - Professor, Dean of the Faculty of instrument design and engineering, Honored Worker of Higher School of Ukraine, Professor Emeritus of NTUU "Kiev Polytechnic Institute" (1998). He is the Member of the International Society for Technology SIRP (1978, Paris), the International Society of engineers (1984, Detroit), the International Society of Materials Research (1990, UK), member of the Academy of Engineering Sciences (1992), head of the instrumentation. In 1956 he graduated from the Kiev Polytechnic Institute. He worked as a technologist at the plant named after G.I.Petrovsky (g . Kiev). From 1958 - post-graduate student, assistant, associate professor, head of the Department of Instrumentation Technology (1968)
Since 1974 he was the Dean of the Faculty. In 1961 he defended PhD thesis, a doctorate - in 1973.
In 1965-1966 he worked at the University of California (Berkeley), in 1969 - at the University of Tokyo, in 1977-1978 - University of Waterloo (Canada), in 1995-1997 - in the University of Hong Kong. In 1972-1980 he lectured at the Technical University of Gabrovo (Bulgaria), in 1978-1984 - University of Jena (Germany), in 1988-1993 - Jiao Tong University (North Korea), in 1986 - the Central University (Cuba), Seoul National University (South Korea) in 1993 - Manchester University of Science and Technology.
His scientific specialization was precision machining parts, nanotechnology, monitoring, adaptive management, CAD.
He prepared 14 candidates of sciences and 5 doctors.
Ostafyev Vladimir Alexandrovich is the Laureate of the State Prize of the USSR (1984), was awarded 10 medals of the USSR National Economy.
He authored over 300 scientific works, more than 120 certificates of authorship and inventions. There are among them: "Physical principles of the cutting process" (1976, co-author.] "Processing precise holes" (1976), "Dynamic strength of the cutting tool" (1978).
