November 25, the well-known economist, social activist and philanthropist, a foreign member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Bohdan Hawrylyshyn visited NTUU “KPI” on the invitation of the Scientific Society of students and graduate students.

The name of engineer, inventor, economist, manager, teacher Bohdan Hawrylyshyn is known, probably, on all continents. His biography is impressive: born in the village in the Ternopil region, he began his working career as a lumberjack in Canada, received his bachelor's and master's degree in engineering at the University of Toronto, a Master's degree management and the degree of Doctor of Economic and Social Sciences at the University of Geneva. Subsequently, as a consultant to governments and large companies he has visited 70 countries. He became a member of the Club of Rome, a member of the World Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was an adviser to the President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk, four chairmen of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the three Prime Ministers of Ukraine. He founded the International Institute management in Kiev and the International Centre for Policy Studies, has written several books (one of them, "By the efficiency of the Company. Pointers to the Future" has been translated into several languages and in Ukraine withstood four reprintings)

During a meeting with Kyiv Polytechnics Bogdan Hawrylyshyn spoke about his vision of building an effective society, about the experience of developed countries in achieving a high level of well-being, about his own life and books. He told also about the activities of his charitable foundation, "Young people will change the Ukraine". In the name of the institution there is a key, designed for long term program. Indeed, Bogdan Hawrylyshyn noted, communicating with students and postgraduates, potential of Ukraine due to human capital and natural resources is extremely large. But in order for the country to maximize its use, a transformation of all authorities, economic and social systems, environmental policies is needed.

After the speech, Bogdan Hawrylyshyn answered questions from the audience. Listeners, in particular, wanted to know why he thinks best for our country form of administrative-territorial federation, what does he think about the work of the current government structures, why he is sure that Ukraine could change the modern world, and the like. "We need to change the paradigm of development of the country and his life - he said, responding to a question. - We must assume the responsibilities of people. Each of us should think about their responsibilities. But not all government should do ... ".
Finally, an impromptu autograph session was held in the hall of the Academic Council: Bogdan Hawrylyshyn made inscriptions on his books, specially brought to the meeting by participants.
