Погруддя Т.Г. Шевченка роботи скульптора В. Беклемішева, 1889 р.February 27, 2014 Department of the Ukrainian language, literature and culture held a scientific-practical conference on the theme of "Monuments of Taras Shevchenko in the world." Students of  FICT and IASA  took part in it.

Hard life fell to Taras Shevchenko, the 200th anniversary of which is celebrated this year. The fate of many monuments erected in his honor was also very difficult. They were forbidden and destroyed by Russian White Guard officers and gendarmes, Austrian officials and Polish policemen, Hungarian chauvinists and the German fascists. Not always loyal to him the Soviet government was.

Student 4th year FICT Vladislav Grunt made a report about the marble bust Shevchenko by sculptor V. Beklemisheva, which was established in 1889 in Kharkov, on the initiative of Christine Alchevskaya. Participants learned that at one time this bust was called "illegal monument of Taras Shevchenko."

Also interesting was the report of the student FIVT Julia Ageyenko of monument erected to Taras Shevchenko in Moscow. The authors of the monument were three Ukrainian sculptors Gritsyuk M, Yu Sinkevich, A. Fuzhenko. Khrushchev's government really "overtook America" by opening the Moscow monument June 10, 1964 - 17 days faster than the Americans. Note that protests against the image of Taras Shevchenko "overcoat-cape", proposed by the authors of the Moscow monument, were made by a number of intellectuals and representatives of the Ukrainian intelligentsia, particularly poets M. Rila and Tychyna, because the evidence on which to Taras Shevchenko was clothed with such a cut does not exist. However, "inspired by" the image of the poet has been approved by the Moscow authorities, including personally Nikita Khrushchev.

Конференція залишила гарні емоції в її учасників. У планах кафедри, враховуючи побажання студентів, надалі проводити такі заходи.

Conference left a good feeling among its participants. In the plans of the department, taking into account the wishes of the students,  continue to pursue such activities.
