For 6 years the department of information and telecommunication networks, Telecommunication Systems Institute is headed by Larisa Sergiivna Globa - PhD, professor, lecturer and researcher, beautiful, charming woman and, by definition of students, "Mother of information".

The fate connected Larisa Sergiivna with Kiev Polytechnic in 1981. Then she, a graduate of the Kharkov Aviation Institute, could not get a place in graduate school at the place of assignment to work - senior colleagues advised to try her hand in KPI. And they were right: young professional, working by the assignment to the Antonova Kyiv Aviation Plant, simultaneously was working on research in KPI. Her first supervisor was a famous scholar and former dean of the PSF prof. V.O. Ostafev. Larisa defended PhD work in 1984, doctoral - in 1996 (advisors - V.O.Ostafev and A.I. Petrenko, in cooperation with the latter has helped her to greatly increase as a scientists). In 1997, a young Ph.D. received the title of professor, and in 2002 as a director of the Institute for Telecommunication Systems, prof., PhD of NAS of Ukraine M.Yu.Ilchenko invited her to lead the department of information and telecommunication networks.

Research work of  L.S.Globa are connected with the development CAD / CAM systems, databases and knowledge for technological preparation of production for mechanical engineering, aircraft and instrumentation, business intelligence systems in production and management, it is particularly processing of information in the complex administrative systems, creating a virtual network of educational institutions on the basis of modern telecommunications and information technology, software package creation, integration, and reengineering of information and software resources in the telecommunications environment, creating a single integration platform of information and computing resources, analysis of technical and economic parameters of the deployment of modern radio technologies in Ukraine.

Since 1993, as scientist L.S.Globa cooperates with the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Her formation as a scientist at the time was greatly influenced by collaboration with prof. V.O.Rumbeshtoyu. Since 1997 she is the supervisor of works to create a legally reliable database affected by the Chernobyl disaster. The purpose of this project was to provide information and analytical support for basic management functions to protect people from the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster, what was assigned to the Ministry of Ukraine. The project was carried out by students and postgraduates of ESITS of NTUU "KPI". Now another program is being put in place (for the order of KSCA). It is  the "medicine" that will provide reimbursement to pharmacies for medicines given to privileged people. For the work that has been done Larisa was awarded MOE diploma for her outstanding contribution to the protection of the population from emergency situations of technogenic and natural character, overcoming the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster and on the occasion of the Day of Science. Larisa had to work with all regions of Ukraine, especially in Kharkiv, Donetsk and Khmelnychyna.

In addition, L.S. Globa managed a project which was ordered by the State Car Inspection to create a network through which a road patrol could have a few minutes to determine if a car is not wanted. Larisa was also engaged in issues of intellectual property and the she is an judgment expert with the right expertise related to the protection of intellectual property in the field of information technology.

In 2007, for the second consecutive year, prof. L.S.Globa aws named among the best teachers and researchers of NTUU "KPI". Many graduate students have become the teachers of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute. Larisa finds it especially nice, that this year two of her pupils - Associate Professor, PhD M.O.Alyeksyeyev and M.Yu.Ternovyy - won in the category of "young teacher-researcher of NTUU "KPI "-2007".

L.S. Globa was twice an intern abroad as a part of the exchange with the TU in Dresden (Germany). Among her developments there are more than 120 scientific publications, including more than 20 of them that have been published abroad, a number of monographs, 2 textbooks, about 10 teaching materials and patents for invention.

Graduation projects of students developed under the guidance of prof. L.S. Globa are noted with prize places at the university and in national competitions. She was awarded with the Diploma of Education and Science as a supervisor, who has trained the winner of the National competition of student research work in the direction of "Radio Engineering and telecommunications" – it is a student of TI-31 group Tetyana Kot. Larisa also works closely with Intel and Microsoft.

For a significant contribution to the establishment and development of the Institute of Telecommunication Systems she was awarded with diplomas. Information about L.S. Globa one can find in the Biographical Directory "Kyiv".

Also Larisa Sergiivna brought up charming daughter Ksenia, who took, perhaps, the parent thirst for activities - Ksenia studies excellent in KPI and receives, in addition, a second degree.

For her tireless and useful work Larisa received an award from the Association of Business Women of Ukraine "Lybid" which is a magic figurine of crystal winch, as delicate and fragile as Larisa is herself. On celebration of the 8th of March we wish Larisa warm days of spring and smiles, let her swan wings will be strong and durable and carry her to further heights!
