On January, 15 the first in this year expanded meeting of the trade union committee of "KPI" was held. The trade union activists, members of the trade union committee of students, administration of the university and the city Union of Education took part in this meeting. The main agenda was the question “Measures for socio-economic protection of KPI employees" under the lack of funding of the payroll budget for KPI in Q1 2014."

The first pro-rector Yuriy Yakymenko said, that "KPI" in the first quarter of 2014 was allocated assignations from the general fund of government budget in the amount of only 71.7% of the required.
Yuriy Ivanovich suggested two possible ways of solving the situation with minimal loss.

The First – is temporary, for the duration of the university budget, cancel all settlements - for a degree, rank, etc., and switching to part-time rate. This is a legitimate way, because such payments, as mentioned in regulatory act, implemented within funds available and the amount can vary, or it (money) may not be paid at all.

The Second – is to provide employees of the University in the first quarter with a two-week vacation at their own expense. Make it easy during student holidays from 20 January to 9 February. If two of the three weeks teachers will be on vacation it will not affect the educational process. For employees who belong to other categories, such vocation may be granted in another time, but it must occur in January, February or March, in one of the months of the first quarter.

In discussing the issues and the ways of their solving several faculty and staff representatives of the trade union committee of students took part. Eventually the head of the trade union of employees Vitaliy Molchanov, who chaired the meeting, put proposals for further action of the team to vote.

The majority of trade union decided to support the proposal of the administration to provide opportunities for employees vocation on their own expense for 14 days. The decision includes the following items:

1) To appeal to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine , the Central Committee of sectoral trade unions on behalf of the staff to decide the issue of full funding for social expenditures of University.

2) In case of the absence of adequate response from the MES, trade union committee reserves the right in a legal way to defend the rights and interests of university staff in a decent wage , including initiating labor dispute between the MES and the Central Union of Education and Science.

3) In order to prevent the reduction of salaries and allowances for the abolition of academic titles , degrees it must be recommended to the professors to consider a question of getting a vacation on his own account for 14 calendar days during the winter holidays. With this in view of the measures initiated by the trade union committee to restore proper funding payroll "KPI" , the final decision on a vacation on their own account workers offered to take not earlier than January 23, 2014

4) The chairman of trade union office departments to inform employees about the adopted decision.

Participants of the meeting also approved the text of the appeal to the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine D. Tabachnyk to ensure full funding of KPI payroll for the first quarter of 2014.

Another trade union members considered the question, "About the CBA’s campaign organization in the departments of the University”. Vice-chairmen of the trade union Michaylo Bezugly and Valery Korsakov brought to the chief union office employees and students information about the features of the CBA’s campaign in the University’s departments and about the training algorithm conferencing units of labor collectives of the departments.
