On March 21 at the State Polytechnic Museum of NTUU "KPI" was a round table session "great scientists of the world". It was marking the 540 anniversary of the birth of the Polish astronomer Mykola Kopernyk, 370 anniversary of the birth of Isaac Newton and the 150th anniversary of the birth of the first president of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, one of the greatest national scientists of the twentieth century Volodymyr Vernadsky.

Meeting was chaired by Vice-Rector of NTUU "KPI" member of the National Academy of Sciences, Mykhailo Ilchenko. In his opening remarks, he described the importance of the activity of these great scientists.

The congratulatory letter on behalf of the President of the Ukrainian Astronomical Association a member of the Natiolan Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Yaroslav Yatskiv was read by a Senior Scientist of Geodynamics of the Main Astronomical Observatory of NAS of Ukraine Alla Korsun:

«Dear participants of this unique roundtable discussion marking the anniversary dates of brilliant scientists of mankind! On behalf of the Ukrainian Astronomical Association congratulate you on this significant event.

Continuous way of acquiring of scientific knowledge is full of sharp turns that allow you to have another look at the world.

Among these events a special place takes a discovery of the heliocentric model of the world, the law of gravity, the general theory of relativity and the theory of the noosphere.

Today, the scientific community, waiting for new sharp turns in the history of scientific inquiry, salutes those geniuses who by their selfless work paved the way for mankind to new horizons of acquiring knowledge of the world.

I wish the participants of the round table good health and achievements in the promotion of new knowledge ».

This greeting was a high point for the all participants of the roundtable. Among them were people of different age and academic experience: next to the gray-haired professors were sitting school children - members of the Small Academy of Sciences and students.

So, speaking begun with reports from members of the Kyiv SAS: 11 grade student of the gymnasium 178 Julia Harlan came out with the basic life milestones of Mykola Kopernyk and Polytechnic High School eighth-grader Mykhailo Lukish told about the life of Isaac Newton. Then the head of the Kiev Planetarium, Corresponding Member of NAS of Ukraine, Professor Klim Churyumov made a report on the "Space missions of M.Kopernyk and I.Nyuton". An interesting report "M.Kopernyk and heliocentric system of the world" was introduced by Alla Korsun. The speech of the head of the Centre of Cosmology FAT NTUU "KPI" Gennadiy Gritsenko "I.Nyuton and the theory of gravity" produced lively exchange. The topical nature of the most ideas of the first president of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences showed a report of Senior Scientist of the Centre for the Science Potential Research and Science History n.a. H.M.Dobrov, Doctor of History, PhD in Physical and Mathematical Sciences Alla Lytvynko "Ideas of Vernadsky about noosphere and modern scientific world". Assistant Professor of Theoretical Mechanics of FASS NTUU "KPI" PhD in Technical Sciences Volodymyr Kryshtal called his speech "I.Nyuton – the Founder of Classical Mechanics" and dedicated it to the main regulations of classical mechanics, the formulation of which we owe the great Englishman. Finally, a very interesting report "Newton and philosophy", made a senior lecturer of Philosophy Department of NTUU "KPI" Ph.D. in Technical Sciences Volodymyr Ignatovych, who revealed the influence of the great scientist's works on the development of philosophy and emphasized that nowadays it remains urgent.
