Valentin A. Zmorovich (09.06.1909, Kiev - 02.1994) - an outstanding scientist, mathematician, teacher. Fruitful creative, research and teaching activities V.A. Zmorovich was awarded by two Orders of Honor and medals.

He was the teacher KPI since 1932. Since 1952 to 1973 he headed of the Department of Mathematics KPI, until 1987 – Professor of the Department of Higher Mathematics number 1.

Valentin A. Zmorovich was born September 6, 1909 in a family of high school teacher in Kiev. In 1928 he became a student of physics and mathematics faculty of the Kiev Institute of Public Education (now the Kiev National University of Taras Shevchenko), from which he graduated in 1932. A significant influence in shaping him as a scholar and teacher made the founders of Kiev School of Mathematics - Academician of the USSR D.A. Grave, M.P. Kravchuk, corresponding member of the N.I. Akhiezer.

In 1932, on the recommendation of M.P. Kravchuk and N.I. Akhiezer Zmorovidh started teaching at the Kiev Polytechnic Institute (at the time - industrial).

In 1934 he published the first scientific paper, in 1937 V.A.Zmorovich defended his thesis, and in 1950 – the Doctorate on "Investigations in the theory of analytic and generalized analytic functions." After a while, he was awarded the title of professor.

During the war years in the team of scientists and engineers of the Kiev Industrial Institute during the evacuation in Tashkent carried out scientific and technical work for the defense of the country.

From 1952 to 1973 he headed the Department of Mathematics KPI, then to 1987 he became the Professor of the Department of Mathematics number one KPI.

By V.A.Zmorovich lectures were differed by depth of thought and bright lecturing skills and were admired not only by students, but also professional teachers.

The main theme of his research - geometric theory of analytic functions. The main object here there were special classes of functions that are regular and single sheet in a circle, annulus, unlimited circular area, and the n-connected region. The theory is based on the constructed by V.A. Zmorovich generalization of the classical Poisson integral formulas, Schwartz, Riesz-Herglotz and spread them on the n-connected region (these formulas can be rightfully called formulas Zmorovich). After, these important classes of analytic functions obtained image as a Stiltesov functionals over the family (or several families - in the case of multiply connected domains) non-decreasing functions of bounded variation. This method it was named by the structural formulas.

Much attention VA Zmorovich paid the calculus and investigation of the convergence of improper integrals, which are interested in at the time of many prominent mathematicians of the world (gamma function, the zeta function Euler-Riemann et al.). In the last years of his mathematical talent was revealed in a critical review of individual results and research mathematicians from around the world in his own mathematical interests. VA Zmorovich built Schwarz integral generalization of the n-connected region (n - any natural number) in the form of a much more friendly than Meshkovsky. Critically examining the scientific results of other mathematicians, he not only summarized them, but found inaccuracies in their works.

VA Zmorovich many years successfully led the research seminar at the Department of Mathematics KPI that has scientific relations with Bulgarian, Romanian mathematicians. He was widely known in Russia, Poland, USA. In this workshop, his disciples made the reports: Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences L.A. Dunduchenko, P.M. Tamrazov, I.P. Mityukova. From this workshop came a lot of candidates Sci. Sciences - students V.A.Zmorovicha: V.G. Lozovik, S.A. Kas'yanyuk, V.A. Pohilevich, A.A. Hutz, I.K. Korobkova, N.I. Cherney, A.A. Yakubenko and others.

VA Zmorovich initiated a master's thesis on specialized scientific council KPI of brilliant mathematician E.E. Viktorovskii. The scientific council unanimously awarded him after defending the doctorate in Physics and Mathematics.

Sense of responsibility, humanity, decency, integrity have always characterized V.A. Zmorovich. An example of the manifestation of these qualities was related to his teacher, Academician M.P. Kravchuk, who in 1938 were wrongly arrested. Valentin Anatolievich with his wife (she was at the time an assistant M.P. Kravchuk) did not join the chorus of condemnation of the disgraced scientist. On the contrary, they have always been convinced of his innocence and did not hide their positions.

Fruitful creative, research and teaching activities of V.A. Zmorovich were awarded with two Orders of Honor and medals. V.A. Zmorovich died in February 1994.

All, who knew V.A. Zmorovich always remember him as an outstanding scientist, talented teacher, principal and sensitive man.
