The annual All-Ukrainian Olympiad “Mechatronics in mechanical engineering” was held at National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” in November.
The Olympiad is the result of an initiative of professors O. M. Yakhno and O.P. Gubarev. It was held for the tenth time at the Department of Fluid Mechanics and Mechatronics (PGM) of Institute of Mechanical Engineering (IME) under the guidance of the Head of the Chair – O.F. Lugovsky, the Head of IME – M.I. Bobyr. Festo Ukraine acted as the general sponsor of the event (special thanks to A.M. Kharcheko and E.S. Rizhenko).
The First Vice-Rector Yu.I.Yakymenko said that more than 500 students from 24 universities of Ukraine have already gained such an experience. Most of them consider mechatronic engineering as the major for their future studies. Company founders, science candidates, professors, aircraft designers who work in Ukraine and abroad are the winners of previous competitions.
The Olympiad turned into a school for developers of intellectual mechanics in 10 years. Moreover, it became a Summer School for students and a Fall School for freshers. Most of them are among the winners of the Olympiad as well as are eager to join the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” student community.
