Being successful is one of the priorities for modern young people who do everything possible to choose the best way of life. The choice of university is often both first and defining decision which is made fully considerably. Those who choose Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, which became both alma mater and a beacon lightening the future professional way to success during all 120 years it exists, understand it very well. The reason is that Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute staff members are always concerned with the importance of bringing up successful personalities right from the beginning of the studying period, of the support of the students’ initiatives and wishes which often bump into thorns of complications.

Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute is an outstanding multifaceted space for such a thing: Sikorsky Challenge, Erasmus+, other various contests, grants and scholarships – all these harden for ramming the way to future success, because not only a win, but even just a participation in such projects is a wonderful experience. Anyway, what do such successful students dream of? Why did they choose Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute as the first stair to success? What do they think of their future? Anzhelika Chychyrkoza, a third-year student at the Faculty of Linguistics, shares her “secret of being successful”. Recently, she has won the Presidental Scholarship as one of the most successful students of the university.

“I am from Simferopol. I studied at a gymnasium with advanced studies of English, but I liked mathematics and physics. At first, I dreamt to become a journalist, then I wanted to become a civil engineer, - the student says. – Although I always liked languages, I wanted to have a more applied specialization. That is why it was hard to make a choice. During the entry, the Faculty of linguistics of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute drew my attention by the focus of the curriculum on technical translation. It in fact gave an opportunity to become both an “artist” and a “physicist”, to combine different interests.” The girl is used to setting the most difficult tasks: she studied excellently at school, was the monitor of the class, participated in extracurricular events, contests and olympiades, combineing studies with musical education and hobbies. To enter the university, she finished 10-11 forms at Ukrainian International School as an extramural pupil. The great desire to become Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute student forced and inspired her. Every complication was gone through as a new challenge. The reason is that she knew that she had to make her way to new better future independently.

“Yet when I was a first-year student I was convinced that my choice was right, - Anzhelika says, - The profession of a translator represents a lot of interesting aspects and nuances. All the courses that we studied only fed my keenness on foreign languages, opening to me their multifaceted world. A translator is a person who learns all life long, because every translation opens something new to him or her. Although studying to get 100 was difficult, it was a new incredibly interesting challenge which I accepted happily. Thus, I won the Presidental Scholarship.”

The girl is satisfied very much with the fact that Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute gives countless extracurricular opportunities. Studies are not the only thing that students’ life consists of. During her first year she became a monitor of her group, was a volunteer at sports events, conferences and meetings. During her second year, she became a volunteer of the Social Service of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. “Our faculty always contributes to the students’ development. We have an opportunity to practice knowledge and skills we get, participating in the international events of the university. We have a possibility to communicate with the foreigners as interpreters.” A. Chychyrkoza got the experience in organizational work during her participation in the Student Council of the faculty and in the International Department of the Student Council of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Despite all these, she is infatuated by science, the limitlessness of which is “impressing and fascinating”.  Anzhelika is grateful to her lecturers who support and direct her scientific and artistic impulses.

“A bit more than a year later, - the student presumes, - the first, the bachelor’s stair will be reached. I dream of master’s degree, of opening professional universe, of personal happiness in my native country where peace dominates, where one is acquainted with the world, and which is full of incredible interesting things. I am sure that my choice of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute was one of the best decisions in my life, brilliant start for going through the challenges of life.”

She wishes to all the students and future entrants of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, first of all, to believe in themselves and to strive to be their best. She wishes them not to be afraid of accepting challenges and not to give up while going through them: “Let talented youth of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute ram their way to success, going through challenges and striving for more, while building their future and the future of motherland”. Considering the fact that the thorns are gone through by the ones who tread!
