The Fourth All-Ukrainian Conference of Young Researchers in Mathematics and Physics, housed by the FMF, was held on April 23-24, 2015 with NTUU "KPI", National Pedagogical Dragomanov University and NaUKMA as its continuous founders and organizers. Due to prior arrangements of the founders, the housing spot cycles from one university to another: in 2009, the first conference took place at NTUU "KPI", then NPDU and NaUKMA. Over the years, the conference is gaining in popularity. This year, the founding universities were also joined by the representatives of the Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv. This year 110 scientists from 6 educational institutions of Ukraine wished to take part and presented about 70 abstracts.

At the opening session of the conference appearaed prof. V.V. Vanin – the Dean of the FMF, Dr. Sci. in Physics and Mathematics; prof. M.V.Pratsovytyi - Director of the Physics and Mathematics Institute, Head of the Department of Higher Mathematics at the. NPDU, Dr. Sci. in Physics and Mathematics; prof. B.V.Oliinyk - Head of the Department of Mathematics at NaUKMA, Dr. Sci. in Physics and Mathematics. The session was held by prof. O.I. Klesov - Head of the Department of Mathematical Analysis and Probability Theory at the FMF.

V.V. Vanin addressed the participants of the conference and noted that the purpose of the conference is to increase the educational and scientific level of students, postgraduates and young scientists, to realize their creative potential and consolidation and stimulation of scientific research by young mathematicians and physicists. He wished the audience love for Ukraine and mathematics.

B.V.Oliinyk noted in her speech that conduction of such interuniversity events contributes to raising the professional level of the future scholars, thus making their reports to the peers no less important than lectures by reputable teachers.

M.V.Pratsovytyi remembered the history of the conference: the idea appeared during a meeting between him, O.I. Klesov and V.V. Buldyhin (a former head of the Department of Mathematical Analysis and Probability Theory). The founders set out to help the talented youth not to waste time and to actively participate in scientific research during their student years.

At the general session, O.I. Klesov's report "Birth of a New Mathematics" was dedicated to the first successful attempt by I. Newton (still a student at the time) to solve mathematical problems that we now refer to as differential and integral calculus and which in less than a year became the basis of his new mathematics.

The further work of the conference was divided into five sections: "Mathematical analysis, probability theory, differential equations", "Metric number theory, geometry, fractal analysis", "Algebra, discrete mathematics, theory of algorithms, information science", "Physics and mathematical physics" , "Methods of teaching mathematics and physics".

A collection of abstracts has been published on the basis of the conference materials. Articles on the best reports are planned to be published shortly.
