As the center of educational initiatives, scientific thought and unity of talented youth NTUU "KPI" has once again confirmed its reputation and demonstrated the excellence of the Kiev Polytechnics students. Given the flawless reputation and considerable experience in organizing and conducting various scientific events, this year NTUU "KPI" was identified as the default university for carrying the All-Ukrainian Competition in the "English language" discipline.
122 talented participants who represented 100 universities from all regions of Ukraine were brought together by their knowledge, expertise and intelligence.
Ukrainian students are the future elite of our nation, and an invaluable treasure to Ukraine. Perseverance, expertise, ability to concentrate, thirst for knowledge and victory have become the driving force behind the intellectual competitions. Love and admiration for foreign languages, a desire to learn and perceive new faces of the favorite subject are particularly inherent in the participants of the All-Ukrainian Competition.
The first round (April 14-16, 2015) was held remotely. The tasks were designed and uploaded to the Moodle platform by the teaching staff of the Faculty of Linguistics and tested by the Ukrainian Institute for Information Technologies Education in the NTUU "KPI". Testing of each participant’s creative work by several tutoring programs has become the innovation of the second, on-site tour (April 21-23, 2015). The uniqueness of each work was determined in percentage terms, which made it possible to increase the reliability of evaluation of each work in accordance with the pre-determined criteria.
All student participants showed a high level of command of the English language. Oleksandr Hurianov (IASA student), who took the first place, received 384 points (96%) out of 400. The second place was shared by the representatives of NaUKMA and NTU "KhPI". The third place was taken by the representatives of Lviv Polytechnic National University, Ternopil National Economic University and Maryna Pukhova from FBMI (371.33 points - 92.83%). The winners were awarded with certificates and prizes. The rest of the student participants received the honors for their wonderful knowledge. They were awarded with appropriate certificates. Students of the FL conducted a sightseeing tour around the campus for the participants, acquainted them with the history of the KPI, and organized a visit to the State Polytechnic Museum. They also took part in the "Getting to Know Each Other" round table discussion, where they had a conversation with students from other universities as well as students of NTUU "KPI".
The Faculty of Linguistics sincerely congratulates all winners and participants of the All-Ukrainian Student Competition in the English Language and wishes them to further succeed in learning and improving their knowledge of the English language.
