The final round of the All-Ukrainian Contest in Mathematics among the students of technical universities was held on May 16-19th at the Sumy State University (Sum SU), which is already for the fourth time hosts the contest.

In the final round about 80 students from 29 leading technical universities of Ukraine took part. Our university, as every year, was represented by two teams: in the M category (students studying in specialties requiring in-depth study of mathematics) and in the T category (students of technical specialties). Team members are the winners and prize-winners of the 1st round of the All-Ukrainian Contest, which the Department of Mathematical Analysis and Probability Theory traditionally held in March this year. Teachers of the department which became team leaders: I.V.Orlovskyi (pictured on the right) and assistant V. V. Pavlenkov (pictured on the left).

Students of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, as always, showed very high results. By decision of jury, students of FMF - K.Liukina and O.Kolesnik received diplomas for the 1st place in the M category; the student of FIOT, O.Mishyn took the 1st place in the T category; the student of IASA, V. Komisarenko took the third place in the M category; the student of FIOT, A.Myroniuk took the third place in the T category.

An important role in the preparation and involving the talented youth in contest movement is performed by the student group "Non-standard and contest problems of Algebra and Analysis," which for many years has been working at the Department of Mathematical Analysis and Probability Theory. The group is guided by associate professors of the department, A.B.Ilienko and I.V.Orlovskyi, and classes are conducted by young teachers of the department. During the classes students learn to think non-standard and prepare for successful performances on at the contests in Mathematics.

Congratulations to the winners of the All-Ukrainian Mathematical Contest in 2017 and wish them further success in study, scientific work and participation at the highest level contests!
