April 26, 2017, at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, the celebration of The World Intellectual Property Day has passed. The representatives of the Research Institute of the Intellectual Property of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the State Enterprise “Information judicial system”, the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine, the administration, teachers, students and department staff on the intellectual property and commercialization of scientific developments of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, leading experts in the field of intellectual property participated in the solemn meeting held under the motto of the World Intellectual Property Organization “Innovations, increasing the quality of life”. The seminar was opened by the vice-rector for the scientific work and the academic of the NASU M. Yu. Ilchenko, who welcomed the participants of the World Intellectual Property Day. Participants were also greeted by the deputy rector for the scientific work of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute V. A. Barbash and the head of the Laboratory of the Legal Support of Science and Technology Research Institute of Intellectual Property of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine H. O. Androschuk. After the greetings, the certificates were presented to employees and students of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute for active work in the field of intellectual property, active inventive work, active scientific work in the field of intellectual property and participation in conferences.
The part of the event was the scientific seminar dedicated to The World Intellectual Property Day, on the topic “Innovative activity and practice of judicial protection", organised by the Department of DDMTM (head – V. B. Strutynskyy). The participants were listening to the following reports: “The drug in the industrial property” (Head of Laboratory Research Institute of Bioethics and Biosafety IP NAPrN Ukraine, Consultant at the Center of harmonization of human rights and intellectual property rights V. V. Pysyeva); “Patent Inventions from the young age – do not miss the chance to become a millionaire” (IPStyle Director, patent attorney of Ukraine, lawyer, chairman of the AAU Intellectual Property, member of the International Association of brands (INTA) to combat counterfeiting, a member of the American Association of Intellectual property (AIPLA), the International Association for the protection of intellectual property (AIPPI) M. Yu. Ortynska); “Means of proving in cases involving the recognition or violation of intellectual property rights” (Head of research of the objects of the intellectual property and informatization DP “Informational judicial system” of the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine, legal expert N. V. Kisil); “Commercialization of the intellectual property: path of the millionaires and losers” (Head of Economic Research DP “Informational judicial system” of the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine I. Yu. Polischuk); “Free use of works for studying” (Head of the Related rights sector of the department of copyright and related rights of the Intellectual Property Research Institute of Ukraine NAPrN V. M. Trotska).
Compared to previous years, the topics of reports, which were chosen by the participants, are various and they cover a wide range of issues relating to different areas of the intellectual property and relationships that arise in the creation of intellectual property and the realisation and protection of rights on these objects.
Such meetings and seminars promote the formation of student’s interest in the problems of the intellectual property and its usage in their future careers.
