From 10 to 12 October Department of mathematical analysis and probability theory held an international conference "Boundary theorems in probability theory, number theory and mathematical statistics." The event was a continuation of a series of conferences held during recent years in Europe. They have already taken place in Cologne, Paderborn, Ulm (Germany) and Uppsala (Sweden). This year's Scientific Forum was dedicated to the memory of the outstanding mathematician Valeriy Vladimirovich Buldyhina - the Head of the Department mathematical analysis and probability theory NTUU "KPI" in the 1986-2012 . This autumn Professor Buldyhinu would have turned 70 years old. Greeting the participants of the conference have submitted counterparts from Poland, Hungary, Georgia, Norway, Sweden and United States.

Томас МікошParticipation in the conference included more than 40 scholars from the UK, Denmark, Spain, Germany, Turkey, Ukraine, France and Switzerland. Among the participants were many well-known experts with recognized international names (note in particular Thomas Mikosh and Paul Duhan, "stars" of the European theory of probability) and young researchers who are taking their first steps in science. One third of all reports were made by scholars of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Topics of presentations were extremely wide - from purely theoretical problems of probability theory, Theory of Random Processes and mathematical statistics to applied issues of financial and insurance mathematics. Read the thesis reports on the web site of the department http://matan.kpi.ua. The Department of technical training NTUU "KPI named Igor Sikorsky" on the opening day of the conference plenary was held video reports. Links to the videos are also available on the website of the Department.

The conference participants noted the high level of reports their young Ukrainian colleagues. The last, in their turn, become acquainted with modern research areas, new tasks and topical applications of probability theory. Among the audience were many interested students of Physics and Mathematics faculty "KPI named Igor Sikorsky". They also provided important assistance in organizing the event.

Such international forums bring together mathematicians from different countries and scientific fields, promote the establishment of new contacts and a powerful means of the further integration of Ukrainian scientists into the global scientific community.
