In October, 4 in NTUU "Igor Sikorsky KPI" there was a lecture of well-known economist, professor, Erik Reinert on the topic of "Strategy development for Ukraine in the course of economic ideologies changes".

Eric Reinert is having a visit to Ukraine at the invitation of Kyiv international economic forum and readily accepted an offer of rector of NTUU "Igor Sikorsky KPI", academician of NAS of Ukraine, Mykhailo Zgurovskyi to deliver his lecture for university students.

The subject of lecture is extremely relevant to our country that is trying to build a way out towards economical development, thus the hall of the Academic Board was completely full. Not only students of the Faculty of Management and Marketing and Faculty of Sociology and Law who found Eric Reinert ideas interesting supplement to the study program but representatives of a series of other subdivisions of Igor Sikorsky KPI were among the listeners. Certainly, fellow workers and scientists of the university showed a great interest to the lecture. That's no wonder: Norwegian economist, Eric Reinert who deals with development economy and economic history, being a member of statist school of political economics is famous for his publications relating to the problems of uneven economic development of the country. A monograph "How rich countries enriched themselves...and why poor countries remain poor" (2007) that became once a scientific bestseller gained special popularity. One of its main ideas is the idea of division between the state and private sectors in the process of economic activity. According to Eric Reinert, no one should rely only on self regulation of a free market, it is necessary to combine government intervention, protectionism and strategic investments. Such a strategy might become the most productive of all possible for our country. Herewith, the most important issue for Ukraine, from his point of view, is the orientation towards real sector of economy, not financial one as well as any business incentives.

After the lecture finished, Eric Reinert answered all questions asked by students.
