Visit of the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko to NTUU "Igor Sikorsky KPI" on the Day of Knowledge started with putting flowers to the monument of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes and memorial board with the names of Kyiv polytechnics that put their lives for freedom and independence of our country.
To familiarize himself with the university, the President visited State Polytechnic museum of Ukraine at KPI and Scientific part "Kyiv polytechnics". A particular consideration was given to innovative environment of the university. Rector of KPI, academician of NAS of Ukraine, Mykhailo Zgurovskyi spoke about its structure and activity lines. Realized projects, some of them being demonstrated to the President, became clear evidence of effective form of scientific and designing activity.
Besides, the head of our country saw products samples that are being implemented into production by such enterprises as "Ukrboronprom" and State cosmic agency of Ukraine that is a part of Innovative and productive platform "Kyiv polytechnics".
In the course of communication, designers and the managers of enterprises provided some explanations. There is a great number of such developments: on request of national force structures, fellow workers of KPI lately worked over 26 projects aimed at new armament development, 5 of which are being introduced. This work is continuing and developing.
A meeting with first year students became the flagship event of the visit. The President of Ukraine congratulated them on the start of new academic year. "I would like to congratulate you: you are extremely lucky people since Kyiv polytechnics is certainly a school that the whole Ukraine is proud of and is well-known all over the world. In 1898 it was founded by the most outstanding scientists of that time. And now one cherishes the memory and the best practices of predecessors and a school itself, the school that the whole world is proud of as well, - stressed the President. Now the university plays a significant role in defense capacity of our country. I am grateful to the scientists for unique developments that increase the level of defense capacity of our country".
The President spoke also about significant contribution that KPI students made into victory of the Revolution of Dignity and expressed them gratitude for their partial attitude towards the life of our country. He remembered two polytechnics that died in the course of events on Maidan as well as five students and fellow workers of the university that put their lives defending Ukraine from Russian aggression. The memory of them and those who put their lives for freedom and independence of our country was honored with the minute of silence.
In the course of his speech, the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko brought up problems that are of great concern for people of our country, military actions in Donbas region being in the first place. "Ukraine is doing its best to take back occupied territories in the East of Ukraine and Crimea by peaceful means only. But it is only possible when we have powerful military forces, other force subdivisions",-stressed the President. He added that over the last two years Ukraine was able to create new army and it gives some visible results.
We are grateful for kind words, especially they are of great importance for our first year students, said Mykhailo Zgurovskyi in the end of the meeting. - I am convinced that Your wishes will play a significant role in their future lines of activities, both professional and human.
