Research laboratory "Didactics" at the Department of Physics and Mathematics was established to provide the studying process with modern teaching means NTUU "KPI" and educational institutions of Ukraine.

The main tasks of the laboratory are:

  • development and implementation of modern technical means of teaching, computer training programs in the educational process;
  • development and adaptation of new teaching methods;
  • training and retraining of teachers in the field of modern education.

Many students have undergraduate practice, get the necessary knowledge on the use of modern didactic means and new teaching methods here. Over the last three years more than 20 diploma projects  were prepared and defended on the topics of interactive lessons of physics course: "The effects of oscillations transmission in elastic media", "Using the latest computer technologies in the study of physics", "Development of cognitive processes using computers during Physics lessons" and others. The above-mentioned works were made under the direction of L.P.Hermash, Associate Dean Professor FMF, and L.Yu.Tsybulskoho, laboratory scientist and senior lecturer.

The laboratory has previous achievements related to researches of the use of didactic training means and their development.

At the First International Exhibition for Education, Training and Business Management laboratory staff won “The best exposition” reward - reference and information complex of chemistry teacher.

The laboratory presented eight scientific reports at the VII International scientific-practical conference "Higher Technical Education: Problems and prospects in the context of the Bologna Process", which was held in May 2005. Reports were made by  V.H.Baryahtar , Member of the NSA of Ukraine, Professor L.P.Hermash, Professor S.O.Voronov,  V.Y.Kotovskyy, senior staff scientist, L.Yu.Tsybulskyy, senior lecturer and  D.I.Korolkov, student.

Didactic learning means have become an integral part of the learning process in many countries. It is clearly confirmed by specialized and other exhibitions taking place in Kiev and diverse literature.

Development Program of the University for the period up to 2010 in p.1.9. provides: "To implement the IT training, extensively use of simulators, electronic simulators, modern didactic equipment, etc.  in the educational process".

The study of the technical training means’ market shows that there are no similar analogues, so the need for such learning means is extremely high around the world today.

Our university as a technical institution would be able to become the initiator and legislator of such products according to the above-mentioned and p.2.12. these Programs, which says: "To organize small series production of competitive products using the material base of the University...". Material and technical base allows making these complexes for other educational institutions of Ukraine and other countries to order.

The laboratory ingrains reference and information systems for subjects such as chemistry, physics, mathematics, materials, special technology in the learning process of our university. This will enable to increase the didactic effect and quality of education, to raise the image of the university as a technical university, to make the learning process more interesting.

Today we conduct technical upgrading of the Great physical auditorium, namely by replacing existing D.I. Mendeleev‘s passive table of chemical elements by a reference-information complex for chemistry teacher. The complex is being designed and will be made with the recommendations of experts. The design decision will be maximally adapted to the interior of the auditorium not to disturb the overall historical value.

It is extremely important to involve students of the faculty in the development of new methods and modern teaching facilities, which include a purely technical means in the form of reference-information systems, and computer training programs. The main goal is focusing students to modern and effective learning means as future teachers.

It is also planned to organize regular scientific-methodical seminars to exchange experiences and invite leading experts in teaching methodology from Ukraine and other countries on the topic of the use of modern methods in education from Ukraine and other countries.

These plans also include the development and implementation of educational process in modern wireless system "One bell", system of electronic timetable and the computer training programs of new generation.

We are still ready to promote the introduction of modern technologies in the educational process of the Kiev Polytechnic.
