Variety of scientific topics and areas of the scientific research in NTUU "KPI" is striking: from nanoparticles to giant airplanes, from the dungeon into space. A special place is occupied by the work performed on the FIDE. They are always differed by their perfection and practical implementation, in particular made by Ph.D., assistant professor V.G.Bazhenov and his disciples. No wonder that he won the university competition "The teacher-researcher in 2013".

Victor G. was born and raised in eastern Ukraine. After graduating high school in 1966, he enrolled in the KPI. And since almost half a century his fate us connected with the Kiev Polytechnic. In 1972. He graduated from the Radio Engineering Faculty, enrolled in graduate school. He worked as the researcher at the Department of Information and measuring technology, together with the team was transferred to DB "Storm". In 1979-1982 he headed the research sector 32 DB "Storm". He was in charge of scientific research of a defensive nature, participated in the installation and commissioning of critical equipment in Kamchatka. In 1981 he defended his thesis and moved to a teaching job at the Department of devices and systems for nondestructive testing of FIDE, where he is working up to this day.

A desire to create new and implement it with his own hands accompanied the scientist throughout the years. In 2006-2008 he was the scientific director of the successfully completed work on the control wheel pairs for high-speed trains in Germany. Then it was developed the newest electronic control system of ultrasonic phased array beams and subsequent signal processing. Unique ultrasonic phased arrays were designed and manufactured in the laboratory A.P.Kraskovsky in KPI. Today, there are new electronic components company "ANALOG-Devices", which will significantly modify the electronic control unit, so negotiations on further cooperation are carried out.

Under the leadership of V.G.Bazhenov a number of works for geophysicists were done. Equipment was developed to implement a methodology of finding minerals, which was recognized at the festival of innovative projects among universities in Ukraine "Sikorsky Challenge" in 2012. Victor Bazhenov was awarded for the project and layout reconfigurable universal measuring system. Victor G. is rightly proud of this system, because using a computer it allows realize almost all the major known measuring devices and systems for measuring signals in a wide frequency range and fully automate and document any experimental studies. There is nothing of the kind in Ukraine, and there is no full analogues in the world. It was protected by four patents of Ukraine for an invention. It has been successfully tested in Ukraine, Turkey, and Portugal. In addition, the equipment was developed for the automatic measurement of geophysical parameters of the atmosphere, which was successfully tested in the past year in Antarctica.

In 2012-2013 under the supervision of Ph.D. V.G.Bazhenov it was carried out development work between the Scientific park "Kyiv Polytechnic" and Ukrzaliznytsia on the development of a prototype device to detect internal defects of bulky cast freight car trucks. The cost of the work amounted to 196 thousand. UAH (this is the most expensive work in 2013, done in the KPI).

Along with Victor G. always there are students, adopting his experience and honing their own ideas. For the period of 2009-2013 his pupils won two gold (D.Krepak and L.Mislivets), one silver (V.Lepeha) and two bronze medals in the competitions International Salon of Inventions and New Technologies "New Time" (Sevastopol, participants from 30 countries).

V.G.Bazhenov has more than a hundred publications, including one monograph, 50 inventions of the USSR and patents of Ukraine. Over the past 5 years (2009-2014), he received 36 patents of Ukraine, during the 2013-2014 - fifteen. The co-authors of almost all his patents are students, undergraduates and graduate students who work under his supervision: S.Gruzin, G.Bogdan, V.Lepeha, D.Marchenko, S.Ovcharuk, D.Kuksenko, D.Ivitska, M.Hudetsky.

V.G.Bazhenov is proud of his development "eddy current flaw detector", for which he received a silver medal at the International Salon of inventions and technologies "New Era" in 2013. The flaw detector was developed using modern element base, which at minimum size and power consumption (and it is very important for the aircraft industry), allowed to create a product with high sensitivity and enhanced functionality. This device received a patent for utility model of Ukraine. The students Dmitry Marchenko and Victor Lepeha took part in the development of flaw detector. June 2013, Victor defend his master’s thesis, made on the base of this development. Dmitry and Viktor produced a working model of the flaw detector, which confirmed the high efficiency of the design. They handed it to the ISNC Department. This model will be base for a new lab task.
