The 20th Anniversary Ukrainian Physicists' Tournament for University Students was held at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute on February 3-7.
The laureates were Alain Aspect from France, John F. Clauser from the USA and Anton Zeilinger from Austria.
The award was awarded jointly for " for experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell inequalities and pioneering quantum information science."
On this day, August 6, 1930, Viktor Ivanovych Trefilov was born. He was a graduate and Honorary Doctor of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, director of the Institute of Materials Science Problems from 1973 to 2001.
The International Physicists' Tournament was held in Colombia. A team of girls, including a student of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Yana Kalisetska, replaced the team of boys who could not take part in the competition because of the war.
