February 9, the Chairman of the National Space Agency of Ukraine Oleg Urusky visited National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute".

The meeting with the new head of the Ukrainian space sector was attended by Rector NTUU "KPI", NAS of Ukraine  academician Michael Zgurovsky, a member of the Supervisory Board NTUU "KPI" president of the Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Stanislav Dovgy, pro-rector on scientific work of academician of NAS of Ukraine Mikhail Ilchenko, his deputy Vitaly Kotovskij, Chairman of "" Island MANAGEMENT ", the head of venture fund« KALININ Invention Fund »Bogdan Andreytsev, Director of intellectual Property Scientific park" Kyiv Polytechnic "Yaroslav Kologrivov, the head of the development group of Ukraine's first student’s  nano-satellite KPI "PolyITAN 1" Boris Rassamakin and others.

Opening the meeting, Michael Zgurovsky congratulated Oleg Urusky with the appointment and expressed a confidence in the effectiveness of its fruitfulness and further cooperation with the university. He also informed the guest about the space program NTUU "KPI", its goals, objectives, directions and applications, the results of university research and development of space technology for scientific purposes, and for the economy of Ukraine. However, he stressed that the program is currently being implemented solely by the university and investors.

The Vice Rector Mikhail Ilchenko told more about the program and its implementation stages. In particular, he said that now Polytechnics are working on a new  University nanosatellite for educational, scientific and technological applications «PolyITAN 2". Its start in the framework of the international project «QB50» is scheduled for the first quarter of 2016. Boris Rassamakin supplemented this information. He spoke in detail about the work on the first and second nano-satellites NTUU "KPI" and some of the design features on the activities of the university mission control center nanosatellite «PolyITAN 1", which is already half a year in Earth orbit, and received information from him.

At the end of the meeting the participants  agreed to harmonize their work and  discussed the next steps towards the development of space research, including a partnership with foreign colleagues, whose activities are carried out within the framework of large-scale programs of the European Space Agency.
