From 3 to 5 December International scientific-practical conference "Water Treatment Technologies - technical, biological and environmental aspects", dedicated to the memory of the graduate KPI, an outstanding Polish scientist, statesman and public figure Professor V. Świętosławski, was held at NTUU "KPI". The conference was held under the patronage of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine Henryk Litwin.
Conference was organized by the Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Kiev, National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute", State University "Lublin University of Technology" (Poland), Society of Environmental Chemistry and Engineering of Lublin (Poland), Institute of Zoology named after I. Schmalhausen, NAS of Ukraine and Sumy Makarenko State Pedagogical University.
Researchers and experts in water treatment from universities, institutes, research organizations and scientific and industrial companies in Ukraine, Poland, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Germany and Slovenia took part in the conference. Among them - Ukrainian scientists from twelve universities and three institutes of the NAS of Ukraine. Overall, one hundred nine reports were presented for the consideration of the conference.
"The issues, which are in the focus of this conference and its importance can hardly be overestimated. At the turn of the XX and XXI centuries mankind for the first time in its history, faced the problem of lack of clean water - said at the opening ceremony of the Vice-Rector on scientific work NAS academician Mikhail Ilchenko. - The effect on the further development of civilization, this problem can already be compared with the problem of energy shortages. Nearly fifty countries in different regions of the world faced it, that is, it has acquired a planetary scale ... Given the truly global significance of such threats and the importance of overcoming them, on university administration, it was decided to propose the transformation of our conference on water and wastewater in the annual ... ".
First plenary session of the conference was attended by representatives of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ukrainian and Polish scholars and professors, graduate students and students of NTUU "KPI". There are several reports at this session, such as: water treatment technologies that are being developed in NTUU "KPI", potential dangers of genetic samples of water Kiev waterpipe, the technology of biological wastewater treatment of various origins, and others.
Participants also discussed the issues of scientific cooperation at a roundtable on "Training opportunities of joint projects within the educational and research programs of the European Union" and visited the University Centre "Clean Water", created this year NTUU "KPI" together with the Scientific-Production Enterprise"Technologies of nature."
Conference was carried out in two sections - "Treatment of natural waters. Technical aspects of water "and" Treatment of sewage water, disposal of sediments and obtaining from them the energy and energy. " Reports cover as strictly scientific, technical and technological aspects of water treatment, water treatment and supply, as well as biological problems of the activated sludge and biofilm, questions the effects of wastewater on the environment, methods of disposal and recycling of deposits, etc.
