On April the 8th, 2014, the Faculty of Linguistics hosted the XII International Students' Scientific Conference "Innovations in Science and Technology”. In light of the difficult economical and political situation in Ukraine the subject of the conference is extremely important. Introducing innovations in science and technology is an important element in the country's economy and a promising venue for young specialists and their development, especially with Ukraine's coming integration with the EU.

130 persons took part in the conference this year. Along with the students of the Kyiv Polytechnic, students from the Kyiv National Aviation and Dnipropetrovsk National Mining Universities also participated, together with students from German (Goethe University Frankfurt am Main), Polish (Adam Mickiewicz University) and Slovakian (University of Presov) institutions of higher learning.

As part of the conference, traditionally, a seminar "Mastering the Art of Presentation" took place, headed by O.I. Nazarenko from the 2nd Department of Technical English. The goal of the seminar was to give students help in creating presentations for their participation in the International Students' Scientific Conference "Innovations in Science and Technology”. In light of the unstable political situation, the conference took place in form of meetings of scientific sections, without a plenary meeting. However, this did not prevent young researchers from getting acquainted with the newest in modern technological inventions. In all, five sections were working: “Innovations in Engineering”, “Modern Information Technologies”, “Electronics”, “Natural Sciences” and “Social Sciences”. 28 participants decided to speak during the section meetings.

The main topic of discussion was the usage of modern technologies to help people with disabilities. Great interest was sparked by the new capabilities of the already known 3D printer, virtual reality and the recent introductions in the development of artificial intelligence. Every participant spoke of their own view of the existing problems, and offered ideas on how to prevent them. We'd like to congratulate Roman Melnyk (Faculty of Heat Power Energy), Natalia Batyakhina and Anatoly Sekera (National Aviation University), Hlib Moyseenko and Evhen Kryvonohov (Institute of Mechanical Engineering), Olha Sulema (Faculty of Applied Mathematics), Anton Chernyakhin (Institute of Telecommunication Systems) and Arthur Dzidzoyev (Faculty of Information Technologies and Computer Engineering).

The XII International Students' Scientific Conference "Innovations in Science and Technology”helped introduce new products in science and technology, and demonstrate the views of young specialists. As a result of the conference, a digest of the participants' abstracts and reports was published.
