On June, 11 the State Polytechnic Museum of NTUU "KPI" opened exhibition "Pictures from the world of science".
Materials were provided by Max Planck Scientific Society (Germany). These are photos made by scientists from different research institutes and other institutions from various fields of modern science. The range of technologies they have used is also wide. There are photos taken both with conventional digital methods and by using various types of microscopes - light, scanning electron, tunnel and computer modeling techniques.

"What we see is a perfect blend of science and art. Creative start is very important both for science and for art. International aspect of this exhibition is also very important. The fact is that contribution to its preparation was made by scientists from many countries who are now working in Germany. As in our time science is simply impossible without scientific cooperation - said at the opening ceremony Permanent Deputy Chief of Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine Anka Feldhusen. - Today, the exhibition opens in Kiev, but we want to show it in other cities of Ukraine. In particular, in autumn it will be presented in Kharkiv, during its famous "Night of Science". We had planned to show it in Donetsk and in Crimea. Concerning Donetsk it may be still possible, but as to Crimea, it’s hard to say at the moment. However, under any circumstances, Germany supports Ukraine at the time of its crisis, and you can always count on our help".

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Executive Director of Department of International Cooperation of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany Maximilian Metzger, employees of the Ministry and representatives of scientific organizations and societies in Germany, as well as teachers, scientists, students of NTUU "KPI" and students - members of the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine .

"Let me, on behalf of KPI and entire university community express my sincere gratitude to the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, the country's leadership for significant support for Ukraine in difficult times. We appreciate this support – said at the opening of the exhibition the Deputy Rector of NTUU "KPI" for international relations, corresponding member of NAS of Ukraine Sergey Sidorenko. - We believe that today we are present at the outstanding event. And we are confident that this exhibition will be an event not only for our students, but for the whole Ukrainian science".
Photographs of colorful natural and artificial phenomena, systems, models and creatures, unprecedented lighting effects greatly impressed the visitors. The scientists who made these pictures became artists, and what they photographed became true works of art. Andrea Wegener, representative of Max Planck Society, noted that photos were not taken for public, they were taken during the process of real research.

50 objects were presented at the exhibition. It’s only a part of a huge collection of Max Planck Society. More can be seen on the Company's website www.images.mpg.de. However, impression made by large-scale photographs is certainly stronger.

The exhibition will run until September, 12 from 9:00 to 17:30 on weekdays. In addition, the museum will be open at the weekend on June, 14, 15, 21, 22 and September, 6, 7.
