Provisional regulation on the granting of academic leave and re-training in NTUU "KPI



This Provision determines the procedure for granting academic leave and re-teaching of students of NTUU "KPI" according to the Law of Ukraine "On higher education", Regulations on the organization of the educational process in NTUU "KPI" and other normative-legal acts concerning the issue of granting academic leave and re-learning.

1. GENERAL PROVISIONS

A sabbatical is a break in training, the right to which the student receives in connection with the circumstances which make impossible the execution of the educational program (for health reasons, an appeal on conscription military service in case of loss of the right to a respite from her family circumstances, etc).

Training or training in educational and scientific institutions (including foreign States) may be a reason for break in studies (sabbatical), unless otherwise stipulated by international acts or agreements between higher education institutions.

During the period of study for a particular higher education level the student can exercise the right to receive academic leave once. In exceptional cases, with the proper documented justification, the student may be authorized to again receive an academic leave during the education period.

The maximum duration of the sabbatical leave is up to one year. If necessary, the duration of the academic leave may be extended for another year.

Vacation and maternity leave, leave to care for a child up to the age of 3 years, and in the case when a child is sick and requires home care, until the child reaches 6 years of age, are provided in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine.

Students who exercise their right to mobility for learning or training or implementation of the research activities in other higher educational institution (scientific institution) on the territory of Ukraine or beyond its borders guaranteed place of study and the scholarship in accordance with the regulations on the procedure of realization of the right to academic mobility. Such persons are not excluded from the part of students.

Cases not provided for by this Regulation, the special circumstances and situations on the basis of student's application and reasonable representation of Dean considers and decides the rector of the University. The decision of the rector is final.

Academic leave is granted to students in accordance with this regulation and current legislation of Ukraine at the time of granting such leave.

If the student has no grounds for registration of the academic leave, but for good reasons (mainly through illness, family circumstances) has not fulfilled the curriculum of the relevant semester, may be considered the question of granting such a student re-training.

Repeated training is a repeated passage of a workable student (who is not eligible for academic leave on medical grounds) the course of study at certain course (semester) the curriculum which a student has not fully complied with for valid reasons: prolonged illness associated, in particular, with epidemics, frequent diseases (more than one month per semester); long-term business trips (more than one month per semester); difficult family circumstances, in particular, the need to care for family members and the like.

For the entire period of study a student may exercise the right to repeated passing of a course of study not more than two times.

Do not enjoy the right of re-learning first-year students.

In the event of any conflict between this rule of the temporary regulations and the laws of Ukraine, applicable laws of Ukraine.

2. THE ORDER OF GRANTING THEM ACADEMIC LEAVE ON MEDICAL INDICATIONS

2.1. Academic leave for medical reasons is provided to the students by the rector (the Dean/Director under delegated powers) of higher education institutions, according to the "Regulations on academic leave and re-study in higher education institutions" (order of MES of Ukraine and the Ministry of health of Ukraine dated 06.06.1996 No. 191/153).

2.2. Admission of students on sabbatical leave for medical reasons, by an order of the Dean of faculty/Director of Institute) of the University on the basis of student's application and conclusion of medical consultation Commission about the state of health, which served not later than two weeks from the beginning of the semester.

3. The ORDER OF GRANTING THEM ACADEMIC LEAVE DUE TO CONSCRIPTION FOR MILITARY SERVICE IN CASE of LOSS of the RIGHT TO a RESPITE FROM HER FAMILY CIRCUMSTANCES, PARTICIPATION IN ACADEMIC MOBILITY PROGRAMS, Etc

3.1. The grounds for granting academic leave can be:

  • participation in academic mobility programmes (specified radix is not applicable for first year students);
  • in connection with an appeal on military service;
  • family circumstances:
    • pregnancy and childbirth;
    • care for a child up to the age of 3 years, and in the case when a child is sick and requires home care, until the child reaches 6 years of age, provided in accordance with the Code prelucrari;
    • the need to care for family members;
    • other circumstances that are directly related to the student have been properly substantiated and are documented.

3.2 the Granting of sabbatical leave is documented by the relevant order of the Dean of faculty/Director of Institute. The order indicates the grounds for granting the leave and its duration.

3.3. The granting of academic leave in connection with participation in the programs of academic mobility is carried out on the basis of the application of the student visa approval by the head of the Department, the order on the sending abroad by the NTUU "KPI".

3.4. The granting of academic leave due to conscription for military service is carried out on the basis of the application of the student with resolution of the Dean/Director and the agenda of the recruiting office.

3.5. Sabbatical for family reasons:

3.5.1. in connection with pregnancy and childbirth is based on the application of a student with resolution of the Dean/Director and help from the medical establishment.

3.5.2. to care for a child up to the age of 3 years is based on the application of a student with resolution of the Dean/Director and the birth certificate of the child.

3.5.3. in the case when a child is sick and requires home care, until the child reaches 6 years of age upon application of the student with resolution of the Dean/Director, certificate of birth, certificate of medical institution.

3.6. The granting of academic leave in connection with the need to care for family members, and other family circumstances that make impossible the implementation of the curriculum is based on the application of student visa approval by the head of Department and the resolution of the Dean/Director, and supporting documents.

3.7. Admission of students on sabbatical leave in connection with participation in the programs of academic mobility, family reasons, by an order of the Dean of faculty/Director of the Institute on the basis of student's application.

3.8. Admission of students on sabbatical leave in connection with the passage of urgent military service, is the order of Dean of faculty/Director of the Institute on the basis of student's application and a document about the end military service.

3.9. The student's application and required documents are submitted, as a rule, before the beginning of the semester.

3.10. Students who are granted academic leave, you must eliminate academic difference to the beginning of the term control, if it has arisen as a result of changes in the curriculum.

3.11. Students who have not applied for and/or eliminate academic distinction within the prescribed period, shall be expelled from NTUU "KPI".

4. PROVIDING THE STUDENTS RE-LEARNING

4.1. The basis for granting the student the right to re-training may be non-compliance prior to the examination session the curriculum of the current semester for a valid reason, confirmed by relevant documents (through a long period of illness associated, in particular, with epidemics, frequent diseases (more than one month per semester); business trips; difficult family circumstances, in particular, the need to care for family members, etc).

4.2. Certificate of illness of a student during the semester will be certified at student clinic of NTUU "KPI" and submitted to the Dean within one week after treatment.

4.3. The question of granting the student the right to re-training is decided by the Dean of faculty/Director of the Institute for the application of the student prior to the beginning of the respective semester and formalized by the order.

4.4. Repeated studies carried out since the beginning of the semester, the curriculum which the student has not fulfilled.

4.5. Students who left in the second training may be rescored discipline, of which the results of the final control they had evaluation "good" or better or "pass".

4.6. Credit transfer is based on the student's application and with the consent of the Dean of faculty or head of Department.

5. FINAL PROVISIONS

5.1. The students who are granted a sabbatical or leave for a second year, in residence hall on campus is regulated by "Provision on settlement and residence in hostels of the campus NTUU "KPI".

5.2. The appointment and payment of financial assistance to students who are on sabbatical leave or leave on re-training shall be in accordance with the "Procedure the use of funds intended for payment of scholarships, financial aid and awards the students of NTUU "KPI".

Note. Citizens of military age who have been granted academic leave, provided the right to deferment from military service do not lose (the Law of Ukraine "On General military duty and military service", article 17).
