The department was established in 1945 after the separation of the department of receiving and transmitting devices into two –  radio receiving and radio transmitting devices; today the name of the department is Radio Engineering Systems department (RTS).

The department of radio technical systems trains specialists in the specialty 172 "Telecommunications and Radio Engineering" and the educational program "Radio Technical Computerised Systems". The strategy of preparing students at the bachelor's level consists of studying: first, the basics of theories of radio circuits and electromagnetic waves, the formation, transmission, reception, collection and processing of radio signals in radio systems; secondly, modern specialized computing devices used in radio systems based on Arduino, STM32, Raspberry Pi microcomputers, programming languages C, C ++, Python, programming of logic integrated circuits (FPGA), programming of digital signal processors (DSP) are studied; third, modern radio technical computerized systems: radar, radio navigation (GPS, Galileo, GLONAS), radio control and digital television (DVB-S2, DVB-T2, DVB-C2).

Upon completion of training and obtaining a bachelor's degree, there is an opportunity to continue to improve their professional level in the master's degree. The master's degree provides in-depth training in radio technical computerized systems, namely: radar systems with digital signal processing, modern radio navigation systems and complexes, radio counteraction systems, machine learning in radio technical computerized systems. Thus, the graduate gets comprehensive knowledge in the field of development of modern high-tech radio systems.

In the future, a specialist with a master's degree can engage in research in the field of radio technical computerized systems while studying at the third educational and scientific level and obtain the academic title of "Doctor of Philosophy".

The most important feature of the educational program is the versatility and breadth of knowledge, which allows the graduate to be a professional in the construction of modern radio technical computerized systems, which are in great demand in the market of high-tech products.

Graduates work:

  • In the National Space Agency of Ukraine, UAS
  • At the enterprises and in firms: ALKATEL, MOTOROLA, MINDSPEED, Uktelecom, Ukrainian mobile communication, Kvazar-micro, the company of operators of mobile radio networks UMS, KIEVSTAR
  • Radio and television companies of Ukraine
  • In research institutes and design institutions, educational institutions, factories and joint ventures of various forms of ownership
  • SBU, MIA, State Customs Control
  • And successfully work in specialties in Germany, France, England, USA and other highly developed countries
