The department of information technologies in telecommunications prepares specialists in the specialty 172 Telecommunications and radio engineering and educational programs: Information and communication technologies, Telecommunications and radio engineering (educational and scientific program of the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education).
A feature of the training of students of the department of information technologies in telecommunications (ITT) is the acquisition of knowledge in the field of information technologies for the development of modern information and communication systems and further support of their functioning.
During training, students study modern programming languages ​​and technologies, software product development environments, the process of creating services, software web agents, automated business processes, as well as their modeling, analysis, optimization, and integration tools. Students acquire the ability to design, develop, implement and support the functioning of various types of information systems, in particular in the field of providing telecom services, Internet systems, cloud data centers, decision support systems, which are used in the global Internet-based infrastructure.
At the department, considerable attention is paid to work in modern software environments with the implementation of remote access to real functioning data centers, data banks and distributed information systems. Such work is carried out in real time, and the equipment of the department's laboratories is used as an entry point. This process develops students' skills in remote work with large arrays of heterogeneously distributed information, which are physically stored in warehouses located around the world.
The list of academic disciplines taught at the department is modified in accordance with modern trends in the development of information and communication systems. With the advent of new state-of-the-art technologies, disciplines that provide basic knowledge of the basics of Data Science, Business analytics, Intellectual data processing, Big Data and IoT (Internet) have been introduced into the curriculum things), M2M (communication between machines).
The ITT department is one of the "youngest" departments of our university in terms of the age classification of teachers. However, despite their young age, 80% of the teaching staff of the department have academic degrees, scientific titles and are highly qualified specialists in the field of information communications. The teachers of the department have enormous practical experience thanks to parallel work on projects in leading IT companies of Ukraine.
For many years, the department cooperates with well-known foreign universities, namely: Technical University of Dresden (Germany), Anhalt University of Applied Science (Germany), and universities of France and Spain. Thanks to such cooperation, students have the opportunity to participate in joint research projects, short-term scientific trips to these universities, as well as the double master's program, taking part in which the student receives two diplomas in two years while simultaneously studying at the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Graduates of the department work in leading companies providing information and communication services, such as MicroSoft, Epam Systems, Luxoft, InCom, Samsung, Life Cell, Vodafone, Kyivstar, Huawei and others. About 40% of graduates provide such services abroad.
