A year ago, my son went to the 11th grade of the Polytechnic Lyceum of the National Technical University “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”. To help him and his classmates make a conscious choice of the future specialty and place of study, I decided to familiarize them with the technical departments and faculties of our university. From the beginning of autumn to the middle of the spring, I together with the class curator visited a certain faculty or department with lyceum students of the physical and mathematical class. I want to summarize my own experience and share it with my readers.
First of all, I have to say that all technical departments have responsible persons and infrastructure for proper professional guidance. The presentations of faculties, departments, specialties and specializations are rich. Experts, who conducted presentations, have an experience in carrying out vocational guidance activities. I would also like to note that all the deans and heads of the departments that I have been addressing to have shown interest in meeting with future entrants. Thanks for their support.
