On October 31, 2017 professor Yuri Stepanovich Synekop turned 80. All his scientific, pedagogical, managerial achievements are inextricably linked with the Kiev Polytechnic Institute. He graduated from the KPI in 1964, defended his Ph.D. thesis in 1973. He began working in the KPI in 1963 as an assistant, and later as senior lecturer, associate professor, deputy dean of the faculty of electronics, vice-rector, head of the department (in 1990-2005). In 1991 he was awarded the title of professor, he was awarded with the prize "Excellence in Education of Ukraine", and in 1998 he was awarded the title "Honored Worker of Education in Ukraine". U.S.Synekop is one of the founders of the specialty "Physical and biomedical electronics" and one of the organizers of advanced training of specialists in the field of biomedical electronics. For 15 years he was the chairman of the organizing committee of the scientific international conference "Problems of physical and biomedical electronics", a member of the interdepartmental commission under the Ministry of Healthcare of modern medical equipment.

In 1990, when Yuri Stepanovich became the head of the department of theoretical electronics, a new stage of its development began. Since September 1, 1991, the specialty "Physical Electronics" was opened, which began to prepare specialists in the study and simulation of physical phenomena and its use in modern electronic technology. Since September 1, 1993 the specialty "Biomedical electronics" has been opened. The creation of this specialty was driven by the development of science-intensive medical technology, diagnostic systems and medical equipment in Ukraine. In the short time under the leadership of U.S.Synekop, fundamentally new curricula and programs were developed. Specialists in the design, production and operation of biomedical electronic systems had to acquire knowledge on fundamental sciences, electronics with the basics of biophysics, biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, diagnostics. Both specialties envisaged both deep physical, mathematical and computer training, as well as further specialization in such disciplines as biomedical electronics, circuit design and design of biomedical devices, electronic devices of microwave, modeling and automation of technological processes, submicron solid-state devices , macromodeling of integrated micro-circuits, etc. In accordance with new development paths in 1994, the department received the name "Department of Physical and Bio-Medical Electronics". For the specialists preparation  on the initiative of prof. U.S.Synekop in 1997 in the KPI the specialty "Physical and Biomedical Electrotonics" was opened.

Scientific interests of prof. U.S.Synekop are connected with automation of modeling of technological processes in electronics and solving actual problems of modern bio-medical technologies development in Ukraine. U.S.Synekop is the author of 136 scientific works, including 7 study-guides (written alone or in co-authorship): "Modeling technological processes of the production of the WSI", "Automation of the design of manufacturing processes of the WSI", "Technology of compilation of integrated circuits", " Simulation of technological processes in electronics "," Biomedical signals and their processing "," Physics of electronic processes "," Systems of reflection in medicine "and one monograph" The role of electrostatic interactions in adsorption on the surface of solid oxides ". The group of authors of the study-guide "Biomedical Signals and Their Processing" received the first prize in 2000 according to the results of the university contest for the best book, monograph, study guide.

Prof. U.S. Synekop’s scientific group has developed MS-92M devices for magnetic therapy and stimulation, magnetic laser therapy and for magnetotherapy of the  intestine. The efficaciousness of the MS-92M device is confirmed by clinical tests in medical institutions. The Committee on New Medical Equipment of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine issued a registration certificate for this device and a permit for its production. Colleagues, as well as students and numerous graduates of the department sincerely congratulate you, dear Yuri Stepanovich, on the anniversary. Good health for you, family happiness, well-being!
