I first met with the artist Gregory Sinitsa in 1988 at the Kiev Polytechnic Institute in his solo exhibition. Easel and monumental works of Gregory Sinitsa were placed in two large exhibition halls of the seventh building. Later the artist admitted that he liked halls and exhibition itself. "When I was presented with the pictures of the showrooms in Kiev, I chose the KPI - this is what is needed for my work. And it did.  As if I see my own works for the first time - such an impression. The halls were designed professionally, "- he said.

Exhibition of works by Gregory Sinitsa was ambitious in terms of volume, the number of monumental works and versatility. There was no need to look at the works closely: they are fascinated spectator from afar. The exhibition was available especially for students and teachers - the doors of  lecture auditoriums  went straight into the exhibition halls.

At the exhibition one could see the same audience. "Why?" - We asked. "Every time the impressions from the works are different. Or they are perceived differently each time ... "- said one. "It is interesting to observe the technique of creating an image: flora, fauna, applique, inlay, straw," - says the other. "Look at it: Sinitsa’s watercolor is like oil paintings. So I look at how this is possible? "- these were the answers of the artists ...

When the exposure period is exhausted, the exhibition was dismantled. There was a questioin about the future of this unique collection of works of Ukrainian school of painting and a color mosaics. By the time the author - Honored Artist of Ukraine - has been awarded the State Prize Shevchenko. Therefore, the spring of 1992 the leadership of the Institute decided to create an art gallery in the premises of the Centre of Culture and Arts.

At the opening of the gallery in April 1992 there were invited artists, journalists, employees of the Ministry of Culture, Cultural Foundation. It was held a press conference for media representatives. After getting acquainted with the exposition he participants watched the documentary "Blessed color" about the life and work of Gregory Sinitsa. The performances of the writer, Academician Anatoly Pogrebnoy, art critic Gregory Mestechkin, first vice-rector of KPI Yuri Yakimenko were very interesting. G.Sinitsy thanked the head of the Institute of moral and financial support and promised to be a consultant to the gallery.

Established in KPI Art Gallery was one of the first in Ukraine among university art galleries, and should be noted that this art gallery has worked in a technical college, and this is its special mission of humanizing.

The “artistic living room," was created at the Gallery. It consisted of two visual studio - for teachers and students, and children's experimental studio folk painting "Oranta KPI", which was supported by G.Sinitsa. The artist supported as well the annual exhibitions and competitions "Talents KPI".

Today Art Gallery, founded by G.I.Sinitsya, is a kind of spiritual and artistic center, which also creates a positive image of the university.
